Send shippment confirmation when status is changes in database

I'm using an ADODB connector to change data in the database.


I'm using it as well to mark the orders as shipped once the carrier pick up the package.


But when I change the order status to shipped in the database, the customer does not receive the shipment confirmation.

On the other hand, whrn you set the status to "Shipped" in the BackOffice, the customer is automatically receiving a confirmation email.


What should I do to send the confirmation email when the status changes, even if I do it directly in the database?

Or, is there an API to call in order to send the email?
