migrating data from ps store to another one

Recommended Posts

Hello, i am currently upgrading my stack (mysql, php, apache etc) where my prestashop is hosted and i though it would be a good idea to update prestashop as well to the latest stable version.

My current setup includes:

- Multistore

- 3k products

- 1k categories

- 3 languages

- lots of relations within products (attributes, features, associations etc)

I am looking for a way to migrate the current setup with ease to a new store.
Would it be safe to just export a sql dump from old ps & import it to new store? Are there any database changes that could break things?

Thanks in advance,

C

Create a working copy of your production shop.  If you existing shop runs in domain root, put the copy in a subdomain so  it runs root.

Then back up your test copy.

Now you are ready to test autoupgrade but also check that your existing theme is compatible,  modules and any custom changes.

The key to upgrade is also upgrading the front office with great theme.

Once you test the upgrade process and identify your specific path...

Then you simply back up  production shop and use the upgrade files db into your domain space.
