Need suggestions on You Tube module

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

My Client wants to install You tube module in site to bring the videos related to products. They want to install in the product page.

I have analyzed few modules. Most of them are using "site's server " and slowing down the page performance. Clients don't want this kind of module.

Can anyone please provide your suggestions on which one is good for this requirement ?

Regards,

Mani

I am sorry, I am not sure that I understand.

If you want to display youtube videos on your page, of course they will be hosted on the youtube. And yes page load might be a bit slower because you need to get response from youtube.

Did you look at our youtube module? Our module displays thumbnails not video itself, but I am sure if that is what you want.

If you could explain in more detail how to make module better, we would be glad to do that.

Hi Simonas,

Thanks for the response.

Yes. Whatever we expected, available in your module. :) Thanks.

Before going for it need few clarifications.

If we open multiple pages, then whole sever will be slower right ??

When multiple users access the site and run the multiple videos, will it cause any performance problem ?

And as you said, video is hosted in youtube and it will use our server to access and get the response. this is how it will work or is there any other option to avoid performance issue in our site ??

Thanks in advance.

Mani

There are various tools to check website/server speed.

If website with out module runs much faster than with it, you should not use such module.

If you website starts running slow without any module when accessed by multiple clients, you need to get better server.

Our module should add some time to the load but it should be insignificant.

Every module adds a little time, the biggest hogs of performance are such modules like blocklayerdfilter.

Videos are hosted on youtube, so this should not impact your website in any way.

If you have good server and less than 1.000.000 customers a day, you should not care about performance.

If you have a lot of customers then you should optimize all PrestaShop queries and find a good caching solution.

I hope I answered your questions.

Hi Simonas,

Thanks for your detailed clarification. I am seeing there is a youtube module developed by Prestashop.

if you are comfortable, can you please tell me the difference between prestasop module and yours ?

Based on features, performance, ??

It will be easy for me to convince my client.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi ndiaga,

I am looking for a youtube module which play the video in popup and it should not cause any performance issue.

Storing in the computer is not a good option for us.

Customer/client are not comfortable with storing the videos in local machine.

can you please provide some feedback on youtube module developed by Prestashop ?

Thanks

Mani

Thanks ndiaga.

Yes. I have read that. But there is no details about the performance.

In the first post, Simonas have provided his module. I just wanted to know the difference between these 2 modules so that i can convince my client to go for either of one this.

And in the Prestashop module they have mentioned as "manually upload." which means we can have our own videos from our server along with Youtube videos ??

Please show some light if you have some details on this.

Thanks in Advance.

Mani

manirathnam1988 Sorry for not responding faster, sometimes I am overwhelmed with work.

It is hard to say the differences because they do not provide demo and descriptions are not always the best way to judge module.

+ Price. Our module is cheaper.

+ Vimeo. I am not sure if you need this.

+ Pop-up. In another module description there is mention of popup but there is no demo or screenshots be sure that this functionality really works.

+ Good support. We respond as fast as possible (during working hours).

You need to have two modules side by side see the differences and it is not possible in this case.
