Unsafe to load?

I purchased the domain and got it setup, but now, when I try to open my site as a customer would, it will display broken images and then it complains that it is not safe, and it only let you in if you choose 'load unsafe page anyway' or something like that. Do I have to spend extra money for SSL thing for that? or, is there security thing I can change so it opens without that security error thing? If that is posible, where do I go and change what item?.
