2 Types Of Categories For A Product

Good afternoon,

 

I'm looking for advice on the best way to structure my categories and products; specifically to support 2 ways of navigating. 

 

We're selling work clothing and I would like users to be able to navigate in either way (for example, if looking for a shirt to wear for a security job):

 

Home > Sector > Security - then filter on Shirts

 

or

 

Home > Tops > Shirts - then filter by sector (e.g. Security). 

 

A product can belong to multiple sectors and categories. 

 

My first thought was to create a category for sector (containing sub-cats for each sector we wish to use) as well as categories for 'Tops', 'Trousers' etc and add the products to both. 

 

This is fine and allows a user to either search by product type (e.g. shirt) or sector (e.g. security) but doesn't allow the final stage of filtering. 

 

Any suggestions greatly appreciated
