Quote Module Similar To Orders

Recommended Posts

We've had nothing but issues with Prestashop since we started using it in 2014.  We have VPS and still it seems to maxing it's capabilities.  We are using a custom module to receive quote requests that is pretty buggy.

I'm looking for a quote module that will act like the Orders module.  I like how you can see the status as well as get reports like the conversion rate.  I've not seen any quote module that would really work that way we'd like.

Customers buy our products and services through a Purchase Order system.  They often lease or finance the purchase.  We use QuickBooks for invoicing.  We don't convert our quotes to orders through Prestashop.

I'm thinking about doing a massive overhaul of the order templates to allow it to work in catalog mode.

Any ideas how a module that would work or a tutorial on converting the shopping cart to a quote with prices still hidden?

I have looked long and hard for a decent business to subiness quoting module. Too many quote modules are really nothing more than a customer being able to request a quote

The three that I have found that are most flexible are

1) The one developed by prestashop themselves

http://addons.prestashop.com/en/quotes/19927-online-quotation.html

The problem is that i is too expensive to try. There is no online demo and the developers just totally ignore my requests for information

It looks OK, but no way to tell if it really is a business to business quoting

2) This one from fastcreathem

http://addons.prestashop.com/en/quotes/16524-quotation-16.html

I have used this for some time. It is very buggy but in principle is excellent. Works by creating a new "quote table"  so not reliant on carts being changed and modified. True locked in quotes. In recent months support has disappeared. Their latest update to make it compatable with 1.6.1.4 introduced new bugs meaning tax is no longer dealth with correctly for carriers and catalog price rules are not applied. Making it unusable. And, developers have gone silent since well before christmas

So I have had to ditch this which is a great shame as we were starting to roll out with our trade customers

3) recently found this one from OpArt

http://www.store-opart.com/p/25-quotation.html

Now, this works really well with taxes and price rules. And so far is pretty good with decent support. Main issue is that it does work on carts. This makes it fundamentally unsecure as it does not lock in the prices and quantities promised on the quote. That said, the developer is aware and is working on ways to lock this in. There is a work around by setting specific pricing within the quote itself so is usable

4) Not a quote system but to be used in conjunction we use this purchase order payment module from presto-changeo. Excellent: http://www.presto-changeo.com/en/payment-modules/71-purchase-order-payment.html

For me the lack of proper quotations really holds back prestashop from being a real business to business solution. All though we will continue to use prestashop gor general public we have to look to alternatives for trade (looking at an ERP system: ERPNExt)

Hi

A bit late in this topic as just discovered it, but you might consider the 'Ask for a Quote" module for Prestashop. We specificly built this module to be as similar to the ordering process as possible, inheriting lots of the functionality and features from it. You can check it here:

https://addons.prestashop.com/en/quotes/3725-ask-for-a-quote-devis.html

If you want more features, like "Create a quote from Back office", again, a process derived from the "Create an order" one, you can find it in the PRO version, listed here:

https://addons.prestashop.com/en/quotes/30559-ask-for-a-quote-pro.html

The module is out there since a very long time, was one of the first quote ones built for Prestashop, we rewritten it 2 times to really suit the latest Prestashop trends and versions (we have mixed code as makes thing way too complex), and instead of focusing on adding new features, updates are stability and bugfix related.

So you might give it a try.

Regards!

I'd like to know if your module is able to sort "quote" products from "checkout" products from other things than category. For example, using tags ?

Thanks for your help :)
