I found the solution, I added a "/" in file jgalleryview2.php (line 14) :

protected $imageDir = '/slides/';

Euh... you just need to add a slash in line 88

elseif (!imageResize($tmpName, dirname(__FILE__).$this->imageDir.'slide'.$i.'.jpg'))

change to

elseif (!imageResize($tmpName, dirname(__FILE__).'/'.$this->imageDir.'slide'.$i.'.jpg'))

Pretty nice, i aleady tested the first one, now the backoffice management sounds great. One thing though, don't know if it's me or the plugin but looks pretty unstable. I've been tresting for half an hour and already had to uninstall and re-install twice cos the whole gallery got broken, all pics below each others. Looks like a link to a js file got broken. And this just by changing some blocs' position in the admin!

Anyone experienced that too ? My ps is 1.2.5.0.

Edit, other problem, more annoying, i can't upload any new picture by the back office.

Hello K-Win,

I fix bug for upload problem. You can change the line by yourself (watch earlier reply) or wait for next release.

Give me a scenario about gallery broken by change block position. So I can try it and fix problem.

Joel

Yes i changed the lines 14 and 88 as written in the previous posts, solvd the problem.

As i wrote before, i installed the gallery in prestashop and then tried to add a bloc "quick search" on my header, and that killed the js of the gallery. had to unistall and re-install.

Am uploading it now to show how it can be personalized. Great tool anyway ;)

I installed this Module using the PrestaShop install method but I can not find it anywhere.

Where does it go once it is installed and what is it called in the BO.

Thanks

BO would stand for Back Office if am right, the administration panel. After install it just goes directly to the home page content.

Ok, so this module can only be used on the home page?

I went to Modules - Home text editor - and I do not see anything there?

Yet I used the Module Upload feature of the Back Office and did not get any errors.

Is there a way to manually install it or to check that it is there?

Am I in the correct place?

In general yes it's been used on the home page to show a featured section. But it might be possible to use it in other places, such as pages. The main creator of this might help you better than me. It should be in modules directly. I see it on the "home" section in modules.

So there's something wrong. Am no specialist of prestashop, but i can tell you how i ended up with the plugin working. I installed prestashop, uploaded the ipnotik theme and installed the modlue. Simple as that. You can see the result here: loungestick dev.

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could tell me how I can modify the code (I am very much a noob) to make it look like
the below link.

http://spaceforaname.com/filmstrip.html

I don't want to upload large images just maybe 100x100 or 300x200 images to show and hyperlink to another site.

Prestashop 1.2.4 installed.

mozilla firefox, no problem. It works.

- in internet explorer 6, the slides are not changing. It gets stuck on the fading transition filter. Also, I cannot click on the thumbnails below the picture, they do not click as if there was something blocking them.

- internet explorer 8, the slides change BUT, I cannot click on the thumbnails, they simply do not activate when I click on them. Also, captions are not transitioning properly. Caption Ad2 gets written over Caption Ad2 which then gets written over by Caption Ad3. The old captions do not disappear before a new caption gets added, so it makes the text unreadable.

- In the .tpl, I tried to changed the size of the caption box "overlay_height:", but it's size does not change. If I put 3 lines of text, the third line gets chopped off by the thumbnails. I tried to make the caption box bigger but it doesn't work. Maybe I didn't know where to change it.

- in jgalleryview2.tpl, the function "pause_on_hover: false //", there is no comma after "false" is this a mistake?

Did anyone try it in internet explorer? tried to click the thumbnails? it's not working at all with me.

Hello Tropical Dream,

Thanks for your feedback !

Sorry i didn't try in internet explorer :-S
Can you help me with this ?

About the caption box size:
Change the size in jquery.galleryview/galleryview.css line 99

.panel .panel-overlay,
.panel .overlay-background { height: 50px; padding: 0 0.5em; }

About javascript in jgalleryview.tpl
The property pause_on_hover: false haven't got comma because it's last one.

ok! The .panel .overlay-background works. It changed my caption box correctly. thank you.

now for windows explorer, I really don't know what you should do. I'm new to CSS/PHP.
but I notice at line 84 of the CSS, there is a line that says: "/* TRANSPARENT BORDER FIX FOR IE6 */". I don't know if it has anything to do with it. Maybe you should remove the slide change fading filter that gets in the way of the buttons to click.

Internet explorer is important because it's still the most widely used browser. As it is your module is not usable in internet explorer :( What should we do?

No problem in Google Chrome, no problem in firefox, it works very well as it should.

One little problem:

The box is cut off on the right side in the default theme, you can see the problem on the test site.

Can this be fixed? Where?

You just need to change width and height from JS parameter.

Hi!
Does anyone know where I can add the link to the main pictures ?

I could add the link to text (in Jgalleryview2.tpl), but impossible to find the code where to place a link to these main images displayed.

When I add the link to

{if $my_item->img}

it add's a link to the thumbnails. that's not what I need.

any suggestions ? :-)

Suggestion (also sent to Joël) :
- adding a tinyMce option would open the module to an entire different functionality : like for instance a good tool for promoting products, giving possibilities to add some colors and different sizes in the text. (and also linkable text) - is that possible ?

I have also some issues, I want to move the arrows, i can do it under firebug, no problem, but i can t find in any css! it is inside element.style and nowhere to be found galleryview.css ( ca me rend chevre) same goes with the thumbnails i just want to remove them, no trouble with firebug BUT i can t see which line to erase in the tpl.

All i want to do is the keep the big slide with the arrow in the bottom right..... Does anyone can help me to spare the very last hair on my head, before i am completly bald?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for yours interest, ideas, feedbacks...

@Raphael2010
If you want to display only panels and no filmstrips, you can easily change the javascript variable like this example : http://spaceforaname.com/panels.html

@Fabrice
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll write it in todo list.
For display main image of one of yours products, you can easily upload it in module configuration.

@benj0612
I already correct this in the project. You can have it right now on the SVN repository (browse SourceForge project space) or wait to next release.
PS: my name is JOEL and not "joelle" (it's the name for girl)

Help! I need some developers to enhance this module. Because i'm really busy at this time, so if someone can contribute to this module. It will be great.

Joel

Hi, thanks for the reply and the website, i have read carefuly the website and to intend the effect desired, i must remove the following code

></pre>
<ul>

so I must find the filmstrip class which is still nowhere to be seen:( even in the javascript jquery.easing and jquery.timers are used for smoothing the animation and the timing, and then jquery.galleryview is just a enormous file full of numbers and symbols, no way i can edit this thing by myself.

does anyone knows where to find this class to delete?

Hello Raphael,

This unordered list with class filmstrip not exists in module template. So no need to remove it ;)

I tested to display the gallery with only frames or captions but it doesn't work. I think because PrestaShop uses version 1.2.6 de jQuery instead of version 1.3.2. Sorry :(

Hey joel, am trying to add a js effect on the prev and next buttons with jquery but somehow the buttons dont appear in my source code so the script cant see them and work. I was wondering if you had a not packed version of the jquery.galleryview-2.0-pack.js? At some point the javascript is adding the buttons in the page cos they're not in the jgalleryview2.tpl file.

My script works cos i managed to do a fadein/out effect on the panels that old the pictures featured in the slideshow, but when it comes to the buttons, nothing.

EDIT: i found an unpacked version on the original galleryview page and made my integration so now it works, i got my little animation on the left/right buttons.

I think you can do it with javascript. Because you cannot change html code...

Hello Joel,
Very nice module. However it needs some improvements in order to be perfect.

I'm facing a major problem with it:
On back-office, I'm limited to 11 pictures (slides from 0 to 10).
When I click on "add new..", new fields appear with: "Title #3" and slide2.jpg

Do you have any idea on how to solve this? (i.e. put unlimited number of pictures in the B.O.)
Is this problem know by you?

Thanks
Marc

Me again,
After analyzing the code, here is the solution, to be updated in your final SVN code.

in jgalleryview2.php, line 203, add a "+" as follows:

replace:
var Id = $(currentDiv).attr("id").match(/[0-9]/gi);

by:
var Id = $(currentDiv).attr("id").match(/[0-9]+/gi);

I assume this will help many people with gallery bigger than 11 picts.

Merci encore pour votre contribution Joel.
Best Regards
Marc

Hello from Paris,

To be honnest with you, I would if I could.
My dev skills are not good at all. This means I'm unable to build something from scratch.
However I could spend some time on debugging and improving the code.
Some improvements might look useless, but I try to perfect it my way.

I've already spent a week on it, and this is what i've done so far:
-solved the "above 11 items" issue.
-managed to create an independent page in Front Office, first idea was to create a press gallery for one of my customers. This means I get rid of hooks, first I created HOOK_CENTER, but javascript inclusions are difficult to manage.
-added titles for each thumbnail when hover. visible in front office.
-added titles for each picture when hover. visible in back office.
-limited width in back office to width = 150, could be anything up to 250. In my case, pictures are portrait.
-made some custom: overlay and thumnails frames are on TOP, and buttons are white.

Still unsolved, the most important improvements I assume:
-when all items are deleted, I managed to add the "add new..." link but still without any javascript result. WORK IN PROGRESS... I hope I have it solved by the end of week.
-major problem with IE8, bad transition between pictures and overlays. I beleive it comes from bad cohabitation of javascripts. I'm suspecting the ajax-cart.js. It's almost solved when IE8 is on compatibility mode, which is not very serious.
-Maybe other improvements that I ain't figured out yet.

Hello from Mauritius,

Thanks again for your interest Marc a.k.a. Driveman,

My dev skills are not good at all. This means I'm unable to build something from scratch.
However I could spend some time on debugging and improving the code.
Some improvements might look useless, but I try to perfect it my way.
But I think you've enough skill to improve this module.

-managed to create an independent page in Front Office, first idea was to create a press gallery for one of my customers. This means I get rid of hooks, first I created HOOK_CENTER, but javascript inclusions are difficult to manage.
I'm very interested for this functionality... Please share it with us.

-added titles for each thumbnail when hover. visible in front office.
-added titles for each picture when hover. visible in back office.
-limited width in back office to width = 150, could be anything up to 250. In my case, pictures are portrait.
I'm very interested too... Please share it !

Still unsolved, the most important improvements I assume:
-when all items are deleted, I managed to add the "add new..." link but still without any javascript result. WORK IN PROGRESS... I hope I have it solved by the end of week.
Good luck. I tried to solve it but it's very difficult.

-major problem with IE8, bad transition between pictures and overlays. I beleive it comes from bad cohabitation of javascripts. I'm suspecting the ajax-cart.js. It's almost solved when IE8 is on compatibility mode, which is not very serious.
I'm not happy with Internet Explorer. If you can solve it,i'll be very happy :)

"je me suis arraché les cheveux rien que pour faire ça..." A suivre...
Essaie tout de meme d'en garder sur la tete meme s'ils deviennent blanc.

Remarks are welcome, cooperation as well.
You can exchange your IM contact (Skype, gTalk) to communicate more easily.

Regards,
Joel
