[An Error Occurred While Processing This Directive] Cannot Access Site Or Back Office

Hello,

I have been asked to troubleshoot this issue for the company that I am at.

For about 2 weeks now, we have been unable to access both the site and back office as it is giving only a blank screen with [an error occurred while processing this directive] on it. The Prestashop version in 1.4.4 and the host is hostmonster, although we have been told that it is not an issue on their end.

I do have ftp access and have tried a few small fixes that were posted to similar problems to this one, but I cannot seem to figure out the issue.

I have checked the error logs and the most recent error is:

[19-Nov-2015 02:13:24] PHP Warning: mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: User already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /public_html/classes/MySQL.php on line 34

Although I am not convinced that this is the problem because we have tried to access the site since then, and there are previous instances of this error in the error logs at times when the site was still working.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Could there be a (D)DOS attack going on? Hence the reached max user connections limit.

Can you see any traffic statistics about your website?

It is possible that is what is going on. Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know I am unable to view the traffic statistics through ftp. Is there any other way that I can find that out/fix that?
