Creating own CDN

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have 2 servers:

  1. Dedicated server in North America, where my prestashop online shops reside
  2. VPS (Debian) in Europe (CH), where my major part of us clients come from

My idea was to create a CDN on the virtual server to speed up the performance of the online shops.

Does anybody have any idea how to implement this on a VPS?

I'm a big fan of do it yourself as well, however when it comes to this I would actually recommend looking into a CDN provider, especially if you only have 2 physical locations for your servers.

I would take a look at KeyCDN. $0.04/GB, over 20 POPs (9 of them are in Europe), HTTP/2, and they have a CDN integration with prestashop. I use KeyCDN for my personal blog (WordPress) which gets a little over 45,000 visitors a month, and last month I only paid $1.40 for the bandwidth. So price wise I don't think should be an issue, and then you will get all the other benefits of the CDN network platform as well.
