Not sending emails (Authentication Error)

Question

I've sent testing email when first logged to my store a month ago. It worked!
 

Since then I've

  • Moved to multistore mode, defined the 2nd store, disabled the 2nd store
  • Cleaned the database
  • Defined testing product catalog and all the preferences
  • Defined stocks
  • Logged in with testing customer

After all no mail is sent to customers, neither "welcome", nor lost password, nor "Contact us" online form, nor - surprise! - testing mail.

 

The error code is as follows:

Error: Please check your configuration
Expected response code(s) [250] but got response [530 5.5.1 Authentication Required]

Any ideas how to fix it/get out from this problem?
