Prestashop crash

Recommended Posts

Hello I need some help.  I had a prestashop on godaddy hosting.  I some how deleted the whole site.  I do not have abackup of the site.  However I do have a backup of the Prestashop sql database.  How can I restore my website using my database backup. I have many products already that is why i do not want to start all over.  Please advise what would be my best route.

Thanks in advance for anyones help

I think that is the only way really. Pay the money and get your shop back up and running

You cant re-install just from the database.

But if you really wanted to try you would have to do something along these lines

1) Install prestashop again to your webspace using a new database

2) Re-install all the third party modules you may have installed

3) Copy the database tables from your backup over the "new install" database

4) now the fun begins because you will then need to upload all of your photos again

The above MAY work but may not. It really depends on how many customisations you had in your old store

But it could take hours and hours of your time which you should value at say £10 per hour. I am sure godaddy will not be charging you anywhere near what it could cost in your time

Hi,

What haylau is saying is right because prestashop folder is important. You have uploaded product images, custom modules installed, customization in prestashop and many more changes are written in files. So database and files both are important.

Check with godaddy when someone delete folder or files it goes in thrash (Linux) or recycle bin (windows) folder. Is it possible to recover from there?

Thanks everyone, but I already solved it. I lost all the pictures and I had to upload them again but I am done. I made a new install of prestashop. Then I deleted all the tables in the prestashop installation, then I imported the backed up database. I had to upload all product images individually but its working yeah. Make frequent backups of all files including MySQL database.
