Add basic text box on homepage - New to PrestaShop

Hi there... long time user of WordPress, and this is my first go-round with prestashop.

 

A client of mine wants me to add some basic text to his homepage, but I haven't the slightest where to start. The interface and structure of the files in this CMS is far different than what I am used to.

 

Below is the site. Where do I start? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the modules section try the Home text editor it works for this purpose.

perhaps you want to rebuild homepage at all to dispaly columns and for example in center column display some contents?

im asking because homepage of default-prestashop theme is constructed to show products, not custom contents (it is possible with home text editor module, but text will be a little hided)

In the modules section try the Home text editor it works for this purpose.

There is not a "home text editor" in my modules panel. Is this an addon?

I dare not try to rebuild the homepage as I have no clue how it was put together, and again  this is like a foreign language to me. I certainly do not mean to speak ill of prestashop but I have worked with many different CMS systems in my career and none are quite as confusing as Prestashop. I just can't seem to make sense of it.

Home Test Editor is part of Prestashop and should be in the Front Office Features.

I use this to display text on my home page and I added a hook to display in HomePageTabs so text appears at top of page.

You could also add a module such as HTML block, Right Vekia

Not sure how much more specific I can be as it is simply called Home text editor, I see your not using default theme so maybe it was removed in this theme.

If you have the unzipped Prestashop on your hard drive look in the modules folder for the editorial folder and upload the entire folder to your current modules folder.

Now you should have the Home text editor in the Modules section of the BO.

Sorry keep in mind I am completely new to PrestaShop... "Front Office Features" was what I was referring to.

 

I will have to download a clean version of PrestaShop and see if I can find it.

Ahh thank you I found it.... and home text editor is not there.

 

I will download new copy and install that way.

I am also interested in adding text to my home page.  I was able to get the text into the Home Text Editor and it is appearing at the bottom of my page.  I want it to appear at the top, right above the featured products.  When I try to use the live edit to move it there, it won't work.  When I tried to transplant and hook to DisplayHomeTabs, I get an error stating that the module can't be transplanted.  Any thoughts?  Here is my page.  Thanks!  http://capturelife.pswebstore.com/

I did tried that html module but it seems that it's not working correct. Not possible to save any new code to Version 1.7.4.3 on Prestashop. Her is my site https://www.klockornu.se I hade to add new code directley in to the database to make it to work.

You can create several instances just by setting different names on it, and fill it whatever you like, and hook it to any place on the site (i.e. on product page, on home page etc).
