Moving Prestashop to a new domain

Hi all. I'm almost finished building my new merchandise store for my music.

 

It's currently based at http://www.ShaoDowMusic.com/prestashop/

 

I want to move it to http://www.DiYGang.co.uk (with no /prestashop at the end) but have no clue how to do it.

 

Both domains are on the same server. The DiYGang.co.uk has a redirect currently on it so it leads to ShaoDowMusic.com/shop

 

I tried removing that yesterday but nothing happened so I reinstated it. I'm going to remove it again after I post this as I was informed that the change takes a while to happen.

 

So my plan was to install prestashop under the DiY Gang domain using Filezilla but it seems it's already installed there and if I type in DiYGang.co.uk/prestashop it redirects to my current set up.

 

So it seems that the migration isn't going to be as difficult as I thought. I just have no clue how to do it.

 

Yesterday I tried changing the URL set up in the preferences section and almost broke my site.

 

Could somebody please give me some help in making this happen.

 

Step by step would be preferable. I'm a rapper not a web designer!

My question is: did you move files from the /prestashop/  folder to your root, i.e. http://www.DiYGang.co.uk?

 

that is really the first step...

 

then

(assuming not multi-shop)

 

access back office  via that domain name, go to back office-->seo & URLs-->change folder (near domain name) to / .

 

then turn off/on or vice versa friendly urls to regenerate .htaccess file

 

open browser, clear browse cache, and visit your  domain.
