Private notes for orders in back-office

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just started using PrestaShop a while ago,
and - having used an osCommerce solution previously -
I'm really impressed with what the software can offer.

There are some things I'm missing though, and some of those things
are really crucial when it comes to proper handling of orders from
our customers (or so I see it).

What I miss the most is probably the ability of the shop's employees
to leave consecutive comments/notes about a particular order.
I mean, let's face it - the way a transaction evolves is sometimes more than
a simple: customer places order - customer pays - products gets delivered.
And if a customer asks for something less standard of us, a place to jot
it down for future reference would be very welcome.

I realize that we can view the e-mail messages sent between the shop and the
customer, but that helps us with nothing if a request was made by phone.
I know that when sending a message from the order screen, I actually have a
choice of whether I want to send it to a client (or just leave as a private
message), but from what I see, it only gets saved in a discussion thread with
the client, and - what's even worse - there is literally nothing pointing out
that this particular message wasn't actually sent (a very confusing behavior
indeed).

Since the functionality I'm trying to achieve seems to me as something very basic,
I want to ask if there's a way to do what I am trying to do.
Sadly, none of the Google results I browsed through, managed to answer my question.
If there isn't any module to solve this, I'm just interested to find out how you deal
with gathering non-standard information from your customers so that the shop's employees
have some clue about what is going on when they look at an order (standarized order
statuses help, but they can't contain everything).

Thanks in advance.

PS. I'm using PrestaShop 1.6.0.9
