Need to show and select attributes for pack items

Just as the subject says I need to make a solution in the front end where when you have a pack item, the items show to the right like a single product, and you can choose colors and sizes from the pack items, and qty. This is pretty standard with clothing sites, like if you have a 2 peice swimsuit you could choose the size of the top and bottom and just get one or the other or both with the add to cart button.

Anyone done anything like this. I think it  would be a template modification on the product.tpl page.
