Problems Moving Prestashop from one host to another

Hello there
im new to PS and used a shared hosting account, had problems with tehg SSL so i needed to relocate my store with the database to its own hosting
i copied all the files from one hosting to the other
and changed the info in the settings.inc.php
and i still get the connection with data base cannot be established or something like that

any ideas?

You say you copied all the files.

Did you also download (from old host) and upload (to new host) the database?

ok around the early morning hours i succeeded to get the database to talk to the site
but what comes up is only the text without the theme or photos
and when i go into the backend and try to chose a different theme (just to test ) it throws me to a broken link

How does it look if you change back to the default theme?

it is set to the default nothing changed

Did you also copy the .htaccess file?

check your setting.inc.php again

seems to have a missing / while checking your website ....something like http://www.tvbuynow.comshop/category.php?id_category=4 reason that the link is broken and theme not showing up.

does the t look alright?
and also the one above us (in the forum) mentioned to copy the htacsess
where is that i did copy every thing

Try changing the first line by removing http//www.tvbuynow.com


define(’_PS_BASE_URI’, ‘/shop/’);

can turn off your redirects from / to /shop/ and test again ?
