contentBox is a very simple, very intuitive and very powerful Prestashop Module. With contentBox you can add html blocks to prestashop, JAVASCRIPT + CSS blocks anywhere you want inside Prestashop 1.5 or Prestashop 1.6.
contentBox is multi-language, multi-shore and it can also be mono-language (the same content on all the languages)

contentBox allows you to create multiple modules by using the "generate you module" feature on the contentbox.org

Though I use and adore this module, I wonder if it's technically possible to rewrite it so as to forego the whole "install multiple times" thing, if you want multiple contentBoxes in one shop... :-/

Hi parsifal,
contentBox was the first prestashop module to have a free module generator. You can create and install endless contentBox modules on you prestashop site.

To create the multiple modules, please go to the site (www.contentbox.org) scroll to the download area, click on "Generate your Module", give it a name + a description and click again on "Generate your Module". The new module will start download immediately.
You can repeat this process endless times and create multiple modules to suit your needs :)

FYI the new contentBox version is now multi store and multi language. This means that you can have different content on different stores and languages with a single contentBox installation. :) makes sense?
Please let me know if you have any additional question about it.
cheers

Hi!

Does this mean that with the new version, I could also have in my shop's homepage 2 distinct contentBoxes, each with different content, with only one installation of the module?

I'm talking about a single-store, single-language setup. Thanks!

Sorry parsifal I guess I miss understood you :(
you still need 2 contentBox modules to have 2 distinct contents on the same page.

contentBox is just a simple html module and it was created to empower the shop owners with the ability to add small html blocks to the site. My main goal was to create a simple, free and somehow reusable module that would allow me to add banners or google analytics  or facebook blocks in a simple and fast way. (at the time there wasn't any way to do this..)
I never intended to create a content management system or a way to manage the content displayed on a page or on the hooks (like the one you are asking for :) ) but...  your idea is really interesting and it is not that hard to build based on the new contentBox structure. I will add it to the contentBox "suggestions" list and I will consider it to a future contentBox version.

parsifal thank you for idea! (y) and if you want to develop it by yourself you can do it based on contentBox I'm totally coll about it and I would gladly help on that :)
cheers

Thank you for clarifying and thanks for the wonderful module!

I have one other question, if you don't mind: I haven't had the opportunity to test your new version on a PS v1.6 store. Is it compatible with the new "Move JS to bottom" feature of PS v1.6 for faster over-the-fold rendering?

parsifal to be honest I haven't test it yet :/
but it should be since contentBox follows the JS and CSS recommendations.
The tech documentation on prestashop is not so great and it is missing some useful information on this matter... :\

By the way not all js should be at the bottom of the page (ie: google analytics codes - because it can lose some visitors information) ;)
so that option should be used with moderation :)

cheers

Hello,

I am trying to use ContentBox with the latest version of Prestashop.

The module is not saving the "Module's Content" when I press save.

I can see in the Database that the "Content_Text" field is empty and stays empty.

Have you seen this problem before?

Regards,

Mark.

Hi Mark,
could you please confirm what is the contentBox version you have? (v.1.0.0 or v.1.0.1)
and could you please confirm the prestashop you have?
and could you also, please, confirm if you have and updated version or a standard installation?
Thanks

This is how it looks on my test server for the last prestashop version:

Mark that is strange :/
version 1.6.0.8
http://screencast.com/t/mvWos0Dj9qD2

version 1.6.0.9
http://screencast.com/t/d6SRGVvK

do you have multiple languages? or multiple shops?

(by the way I run into a strange cookie issue on the 1.6.0.8 version, so please try clearing you cookies for you prestashop installation to see if it corrects the modules issues)

cheers

Hi Migcostapt,

I have tracked down the problem to this code:

FIle Name: contentBox.php

Function Name: setContent

Code: $content_text = mysql_real_escape_string( $content_text );

The Command mysql_real_escape_string() always returns false.

This is something to do with the function being depreciated in php 5.5.

I am using php 5.5.1.1 on windows.

I have fixed the issue by changing the ablove line of code to this:

$content_text =  pSQL($content_text);

More info about pSQL() here: http://doc.prestasho... SQL Injections

Regards,

Mark.

Hello / Hola...

Al entrar en el módulo obtengo el siguiente error:

Warning on line 434 en archivo /usr/home/miweb.com/web/modules/contentbox/contentbox.php

El módulo funciona y se instala correctamente (PrestaShop 1.6.0.8) pero cada vez que entro para configurarlo me arroja el mismo error ¿alguna idea de qué puede ser?

Gracias / Obrigado

Hi.

I'm sorry, but does not work  :(

Same errors...

¡Thanks!

that is really strange because the warning lines should be different. :(
Javier, could you please go to our site (contentbox.org) and create a custom module there [generate your module button] an check if the problem is still there?

The warning lines are related with the lack of files on the module and it should have been corrected with the previous fix :/ unless there is somethings strange going on with your cache.

could you please try it and send me some feedback? thank you :)

¿Paranormal activity?  :D

Same errors (copy&paste again):

I deleted smarty/compile (via FTP) cache and the error persists. But module works...

¡Thanks again!
