carbar2 Posted May 14, 2014 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Hi, After upgrading from version 1.5.6 to 1.6, I noticed that the new bootstrap theme is not compatible and everything seems messed up on the front-end. "default" or "default bootstrap" ? i think that problem can be related to modules that you've got they are configured like default configuration for these modules in 1.6 ? bellini13 Posted May 19, 2014 Share Posted May 19, 2014 This happens when you perform an upgrade and do not re-install a theme. I suspect you were using a custom theme in your previous store, and now you are using the default bootstrap? If I am correct, then the way to resolve this issue is the following 1) install a new PS 1.6.0.6 in a subfolder or on your localhost to use as a temporary test store 2) log into the back office of this test store and install the "theme installer" module 3) use the theme installer module to export the default bootstrap theme 4) now log into your real store and install the "theme installer", and then import the theme 5) now go to the theme page and enable the original default bootstrap theme and delete the other ones This should reset all the module positions back to the default state 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

In PS 1.6, you now go to "Preferences > Themes" page, and select "export theme" from the top menu. Try these steps 1) install a new PS 1.6.0.6 in a subfolder or on your localhost to use as a temporary test store 2) log into the back office of this test store and navigate to "Preferences > Themes" page. 3) select "export theme" from the top menu and save the theme file 4) now log into your real store and navigate to "Preferences > Themes" page. 5) click the "add new theme" from the top menu, and then select the theme package you saved in step 3 6) now go to the theme page and enable the original default bootstrap theme and delete the other ones Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've already upload my previous version 1.5.6.2. I'm wondering what caused this issue. I am using the default template with some custom changes in the code, like grid display to the product list. I did what you said but nothing changed ( Install a PS 1.6.0.8 version on my localhost, export the theme and import it to my real store). You should also realize that PS 1.6 is only 8 minor versions young, and your issues may be with the software, and not the upgrade process. the_raven Posted April 16, 2015 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) Hi buddies I struggled a lot with this problem and have found a 100% effective solution . do this steps : 1- First you need to download a free ps 1.6 template from internet ( if you have one you can use it ) ( i used useless "ap_office" template :-D ) 2 - Then go to back office >> setting >> templates >> and press add new template or theme from top. 3- after you install the theme succecfuly ,set it up as your active theme. 4- next go to your prestashop folder and delete the default-bootstrap folder completly. 5- here you need to copy this folder again (default-bootstrap) from a fresh installed version of prestashop from your hard or other place . 6- copy the fresh theme folder on your online prestashop theme folder . 7- this is the last part. go to setting >> template again and chenge the template to "default-bootstrap" and accept the module installation without any changes. now you have all the default prestashop template settings again . bellini13 Posted August 7, 2017 Share Posted August 7, 2017 PS 1.6 uses a different template design, so you cannot use the same theme from PS v1.5 on a v1.6 store. You would have to re-create the custom theme using the new theme design in PS v1.6, which would likely require that you have the original theme design files. If you have no idea what I am talking about, and you still want to pursue using your old theme design in PS v1.6, then I would suggest posting on the job offers forum and locate a theme author that can assist you. Scully Posted August 12, 2017 Share Posted August 12, 2017 No. There is NO easy way. 1.5 themes don't work in 1.6. They never worked on 1.6 and they will never do. The only way is to start theme development from scratch to come near to your current design. But since you are obviously not familiar with theme development, it would ask a developer to do it if you are willing to pay for the effort. Or much cheaper: buy an existing theme.
