How do you change the basic site information

Recommended Posts

I have just started to create my first shop.

Prestashop has been loaded on my server and seems to be working

I have even been through the Product section and added some products. Not played with the categories yet but I think that I understand them.

Have replaced the default logo OK

However I just can not see how to change the basic information on the home page and presumably subsequent pages:-

  • Phone number
  • Menu
  • Sale statements
  • The top bar with Sale statement
  • Store information (address etc.
  • etc

I am sure that I have missed something really simple but it is doing my head in!

It is not helped by the "default-bootstrap" theme that has loaded is totally different from the one in the "guides"

Well I am quite a bit forward and here is what I have so far

http://www.flyinglizardmodels.co.uk/prestashop/

(it's only a test site)

but have 3 further questions:-

  • How do I modify/delete the 2 "OFF" images just under the menus
  • How do I modify/delete the images below the products
  • How do I change the words by the phone number to remove "toll free"

I have been through all the Front Office Module options that seem appropriate and I am lost

1) How do I modify/delete the 2 "OFF" images just under the menus

guide: remove homepage adds

2) How do I modify/delete the images below the products

the same as before (1) but remove other images (you will see there form to manage all pictures)

3) How do I change the words by the phone number to remove "toll free"

localization > translations > installed modules translations

search for this text and then just change it

Unfortunately I am getting

Warning! Your PHP configuration limits the maximum number of fields allowed in a form
1000 for max_input_vars.
Please ask your hosting provider to increase this limit to 2299 at least, or you will have to edit the translation files.

at the moment, I need to resolve that first.

Thanks everybody.

I got the limit raised and then made the change.

That is fine for now. I think that I have an idea where to look for things that I want to change. I may be back if I get stuck again.

I do find it a bit confusing all the different unconnected locations that you need to access, I guess after the first couple of years it will seem obvious.

Well after some considerable changing of 'parameters' I am finally getting it looking appropriately, see http://www.flyinglizardmodels.co.uk/prestashop/

However, you guessed, there are still some things that I can not find:

  1. Where is the text held that appears when one clicks on 'Terms and Conditions of use" and "About Us" in the Information block at the bottom of the page? I thought that it would be in the "User Information Block" module but you do not seem to be able to configure that.
  2. I managed to remove 'toll free' from the telephone reference at the top of the screen via Localisations - Translations but can not find the 'toll free' text that appears in  the Store Information block at the bottom of the page

Hello again

Sorry, a bit confused, what do you want to change in Terms & Conditions and About Us.

If it just the text on the relevant pages then you just need to click on the edit icon and use the wysiwyg editor

Yep that fixes the Terms & Conditions and About Us issue.

Any thoughts on

I managed to remove 'toll free' from the telephone reference at the top of the screen via Localisations - Translations but can not find the 'toll free' text that appears in  the Store Information block at the bottom of the page

Hello Again

You need to go to:

Back office > Localisation > Translation > Installed module translations > Scroll down to:

Module: blockcontactinfos

http://screencast.com/t/xk1Z2vh4IA40

Click on it and you will see:

http://screencast.com/t/VCfQeGQ3Q

Change the text:

And you will see:

Thanks. That has cracked it.

What I had missed was that some of those blocks do not show the expressions within them and you have to click on the 'expressions' line to open (or close) them up. So a text search when closed did not find anything.

All this info was extremely helpful as I was having the same problems as GrahamMills.

I do have one question though: When a customer is ready to checkout, the system forces them to register. How can I add a 'guest' option. Also, the system requires the customer to add their date of birth, how do I disable this requirement?

In the BackOffice under Preferences - Orders is the option 'Enable guest checkout' which is set to 'No' initially.

I am afraid that I can not find where the customer's DOB is 'parameterised'. I suspect it is one of the default enabled Modules but I can not find it
