image slider problem

Recommended Posts

I've tried with opera,firefox and chrome with same results.

I am using English and Georgian, on Georgian I changed default images.

I can see nav buttons on english and cannot see them in Georgian.

if it's browser related why I can see them with default images?

Well the image slider looks to be 799-448. in my new shop the Albanian slider stays the default one, but the english version is editable. I tried to delete all 3 default sliders and added 3 new ones but in the albanian version the default images are still there.

Can someone give me a solution?

Hello,

I also have problems with the image slider. I have a clean installation of 1.6.0.5 that I'm trying to set up but the image slider just show large question marks (?) instead of pictures. This is the case both for the default images and with the images I'm loading up. I have reinitilaized, deinstalled, taken away all images and tried to put them back but nothing helps. The text is there and the links work but the images are replaced with a ? within a grey frame and the images are moving from the right to the left as they should.

Could anyone help?

Exactly the same problem occurred after updating the "slider module". The pictures were displayed properly before the update.

Please advise a solution. Uploading the pictures again and again but the slider shows only 1 big question mark

Aha ! There it is! It has to do with the update of the Image Slider ! It worked for me until I made the update I recall now. I believed it had to do with 1.6.0.5, but no, it has to do with the image slider itself because something went wrong when updating it. Pls Prestashop, it is your module so pls fix the problem very soon.

Me too!!! Just a big question mark. All my images are still in the module configuration.

Luckily I made a backup for just such an occasion. Will need to force the version number for now in the php.

[solved] UPDATE Corrected, Solution reply #32 above is not the way to go, doesn't allow update of slider images. Instead use solution at #37.

Thanks

had the big question mark issue aswell

\img folder was the issue

it is now renamed to \images

problem solved, sometimes I feel very reluctant to update modules :S

post 32 solves it...

I am sorry to say no. I did as post 32 suggests but then I could not upload any more pictures to the slider. It was the wrong way to go. The correct answer is in post 37 by karolwild.

/themes/default-bootstrap/modules/homeslider/homeslider.tpl

Change:

homeslider/images/by

homeslider/img/-------------

So do not go to modules/homslider  and change the foldername but modify the .tpl-file in themes/default-bootstrap/modules/homeslider/homeslider.tpl

I've changed  the name of the folder "img" into the "homeslider" to "images" using the FTP. And it works after that...

Odd, for me it did not. I had to change the tpl-file as mentioned. After changing the folder name, could you then upload new images?

FWIW: I had this issue. The edit worked until I just did the latest update (minutes ago).

It seemed to make "solution at #37" obsolete. I had to go back and undo the edit suggested.

So anyone who edited the tpl-file will have to go undo the changes to stay "Vanilla".

Yes, they changed it again. If you change homeslider.tpl, just revert it back and it will work

Yeah, I have done so and now it is all fine!

Many Thanks to everybody.

Ok, back to the beginning.

Not to be rude, programming is a time consuming and detail oriented task, but these module updates really make me nervous about updating anything.

I don't think the first update to homeslider was tested at all before it was pushed ... and forced... upon the PS users. Sometimes programmers get in their head that they won't make a mistake and just implement. However, this entire issue shows that one wrong word, one misplaced comma, and it breaks every site.

Imagine how many frustrated people are still out there who have not availed themselves of the benefit of the forum wondering why their site is broken and trying to fix it, not to mention all of us.

Can we volunteer to test modules before they are pushed to the public? I would be willing to do a fresh install and test what I can. I'm not advanced, but learning.

Thanks programmers for all your hard work

Daniel

Yeah. This took me at least 2 hours of work. Multiply that with let's say 50 € and there is 100 €. How many people have spent 2 hours with this? 1000? So 100 000 € because of someone not taking his profession seriously. Not to talk about lost sales. This is bad; very, very bad.

I fix modify "images" to "img" here:

../modules/homeslider/homeslider.php

line394:

                    elseif (!ImageManager::resize($temp_name, dirname(__FILE__).'/img/'.Tools::encrypt($_FILES['image_'.$language['id_lang']]['name'].$salt).'.'.$type, null, null, $type))

and here:

../modules/homeslider/views/templates/hook/homslider.tpl

line35:

                                <img src="{$link->getMediaLink("`$smarty.const._MODULE_DIR_`homeslider/img/`$slide.image|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'`")}"{if isset($slide.size) && $slide.size} {$slide.size}{else} width="100%" height="100%"{/if} alt="{$slide.legend|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}" />

Now works fine!

No need to do these fixes now.

PS is now updated to 1.6.0.6 and the slider seems fine.

Also, the width of the slider issue has been addressed. So setting the width in the back office does what its supposed to...

But... I have just tried to add a new slider and .......

An error occurred during the image upload process.

RESET the Homeslider module.

SAME ERROR

An error occurred during the image upload process.

I installed new prestashop 1.6. ( when it was released ). Made new image sliders ( 3 ). I was forced to click UPDATE on module to configure it. After module was updated, slides do not work. It's not nice from prestashop that they release new update that ruins your job and stop your shop. I own approx 10 websites , never had a problem with presta, paid for lotta of modules and when it comes to newest version which is supposed to be something good, nice it's just problematic ;<  I tried to UNDO it before update was released, old sliders came back working, but with basic images, description which is useless and now when I just want to configure it again and make all the job again from zero I can't do it without click on " update it ! " and story happens again.  Just to want to let you know, no ofense.. it's a free program so we can be happy that we're happy.

Could it be that you did as many of us, and made changes in the code before the upgrade 1.6.0.6 came? If you made those manual changes and then upgraded there will be a mess so pls then undo the changes you made in the code and then it should all be fine.

Hi

I have tried and checked a few options which were posted and I still can't get my slider to work,

1. Post #32

2. Post #37

3. Post #51

4. Updated the Slider, Reset Slider

5. Uninstalled and Reinstalled

All generic Pics are there but when I import my custom image it does not show but the other generic pics #2 and #3 are displayed.

In all the directories and files I have images and not img.

Can someone Help?

can you show what files youv'e got in /modules/homeslider/images/ directory?

are there images that you uploaded but with different name?

I am having this issue now. Where it won't load my images. It was loading images until today. I didn't make any changes of the custom images they were working fine. So I reset the slider and it works but when I add my images it doesn't. Just get a loading icon. I have check the DIR that you stated and I do not have the "images" folder only two .tpl files? Should there be a folder called images?

@ajethalia

Many more things doesn't work on your site because your theme is not loading javascript.

You need to put this code in header.tpl:

{if isset($js_defer) && !$js_defer && isset($js_files) && isset($js_def)}
    {$js_def}
    {foreach from=$js_files item=js_uri}
    <script type="text/javascript" src="{$js_uri|escape:'html':'UTF-8'}"></script>
    {/foreach}
{/if}

Hope this helps
