papagino 23 Posted February 6, 2014 Hi, thanks for the module. There is something that I don't understand though, why the exchange rate for Canadian CAD is much higher that what you get at Bitcoin Best Bid (BBB) exchange, For example: With this module, I get 1 BTC = 999 CAD And on BBB I get 1 BTC = 884.0176 CAD Why is there such a big difference? Thanks Daniel Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
BitcoinIRL 3 Posted February 6, 2014 Hi Daniel, The rates are pulled directly from Blockchain using their API. BBB is based on Bitcoin/US Dollar rates because of maximum liquidity. Its done by simulating an autorouting market sell order. Rates will always vary. This makes a difference. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
papagino 23 Posted February 6, 2014 Thank you for your response BitcoinIRL. I am using BitPay as my Bitcoin payment module and it seem to be working great. BitPay provide buyers with a Bitcoin Best Bid (BBB) exchange rate. I was wondering if you could modify your code to use the exchange rate from this site: "https://bitpay.com/api/rates" instead of what you are using now at https://blockchain.info/ticker. I don't know much about coding but this should be an easy mod for you and you would contribute to a new module for Prestashop. Let me know if this would be feasible. Cheers and thanks again Daniel Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
BitcoinIRL 3 Posted February 7, 2014 Hi Daniel, We will consider it for the next update or as a separate module. We also have a payment module using the same API, so these 2 go together. I will post here with any updates. Regards http://www.BitcoinIRL.ie Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
papagino 23 Posted February 7, 2014 Thanks for the update... Cheers Daniel Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
papagino 23 Posted February 12, 2014 Hello again BitcoinIRL... You may want to check your module again as it seems to no longer be working as of today... It doesn't show the currencies anymore. Just wanted to let you know. cheers Dan Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
BitcoinIRL 3 Posted February 12, 2014 Hi Dan, Yes, the rates API is down in the exchange. This is due to a worldwide dos attack on most bitcoin exchanges happening as we speak. Most exchanges have suspended parts of their service. Regards http://www.BitcoinIRL.ie Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

dandzii 4 Posted February 18, 2014 Hi, Thanks for this module, looks great on my page, can you make an update for it to show a currency rate in RSD - Serbian Dinar, its widely popular here in Serbia to mine bitcoins and litecoins and i think it would be great to have a currency rate for it. Thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

BitcoinIRL 3 Posted June 6, 2014 Hi The module is 100% compatible with 1.5.6 When you say blank, can you explain? Thanks http://www.BitcoinIRL.ie Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Master One 11 Posted October 13, 2014 Thanks for this module, @BitcoinIRL. Unfortunately it does not display properly in PS v1.6.0.9 with the default theme. Placed in footer: Placed in left column: I really wanted it to be shown in the footer at the right side (instead of the contact block module), and I second the before mentioned request for inclusion of pulling data from the Bitpay API instead from Blockchain (doesn't actually have to be instead, but maybe selectable in the backoffice?). Any chance of an update for the current stable version of PrestaShop? I'd really appreciate it. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Master One 11 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) Well, I have made the following changes to get this module in-line with the PS v1.6.0.9 default-theme: diff -u bitcointicker-orig/bitcointicker.css bitcointicker/bitcointicker.css --- bitcointicker-orig/bitcointicker.css 2013-12-17 20:07:28.000000000 +0100 +++ bitcointicker/bitcointicker.css 2014-10-14 09:43:53.220942264 +0200 [spam-filter] -18,7 +18,7 [spam-filter] } .bitcointicker_left .ticker-rates span.key { padding:5px 0 5px 15px; - width:50px; + width:55px; display:inline-block; background-color:#eee; font-style:normal; diff -u bitcointicker-orig/bitcointicker.tpl bitcointicker/bitcointicker.tpl --- bitcointicker-orig/bitcointicker.tpl 2013-12-17 20:04:50.000000000 +0100 +++ bitcointicker/bitcointicker.tpl 2014-10-14 09:43:53.860942266 +0200 [spam-filter] -24,9 +24,8 [spam-filter] *} <div id="bitcointicker_left" class="block bitcointicker_left"> - <h4> - Bitcoin Rates - </h4> + <h4 class="title_block">Bitcoin Rates</h4> + <div class="block_content" style=""> {foreach from=$rates item=rate key=k} <div class="ticker-rates"> <div class="ticker-row"> [spam-filter] -37,4 +36,5 [spam-filter] <div class="ticker-footer"> <strong><span class="rates_from">Rates from</span> <a href="http://blockchain.info" target="_blank">blockchain.info</a></strong> </div> -</div> + </div> +</div> I've dropped the idea of having the ticker in the footer, so I did not look into the mentioned problem, but with my changes it's now shown properly in the left column and does expand/retract in the mobile view as supposed to. Regular view in left column: Retracted in mobile view: Expanded in mobile view: @BitcoinIRL, it would be great if you could put your module into a Github repo, maintaining it here in a forum thread only proves to be quite cumbersome.
