I have read a lot of forums this morning, and there are no clear explanations for the responses I have read. Simply writing things like 'clear the cache' do not help when people do not know how to clear the cache... My Problem: Back Office Turned on 'Friendly URL' in SEO & URLS back office. with this error message: URL rewriting (mod_rewrite) is not active on your server, or it is not possible to check your server configuration. If you want to use Friendly URLs, you must activate this mod. Also on is 'redirect canonical URL', although this seems to make little difference to the problem. The site cache is disabled. But I do not understand how to clear it. ------------------- On front office: URL rewrite appears to be working, except I get a 'redirect loop' on account login, and if I enter anything into the search field. I cannot find any clear explanation as to how to sort out the 'mod_rewrite' problem. The .htaccess file appears to say the rewrite is on. Although if I try to manually add any code to the .htaccess file it breaks the whole site. For now I have to leave rewriting off as it is crippling the site, which is a big shame.
