where do I have to modify the sourcecode to disable carriers under x conditions?

Hi there,

 

let's say I need a functionality which isnt provided by the default Prestashop 1.5.6 installation . I need to disable certain carriers under "x" condition which isnt relevant at all. Can someone point me in the right direction? I dont want to do it because I dont have time to come up with a right clean solution, but since I have to, Im looking more for a workaround, I have modified some modules and prestashop code before but for insignificant modifications, and when wanting to do this I really got lost after reading the code of the order controller, cart class, etc.
