A token is a security feature for software. Token based authentication is used many times when inputted a username or password. Instead of actually submitting your username and password to the server, the server generates a token that is used for authentication. It is good to have for sensitive information and makes it extremely hard to hack. 

 

PrestaShop has an option for increased front office security by enabled tokens in Preferences/General/Increase Front Office Security.
