BitCoin Payment with MtGox Prestashop 1.5

Recommended Posts

Quick presentation of MtGox Bitcoin payment free module for Prestashop 1.5+

Please note that you will need to register with MtGox to receive payments.

-Free module

prestashop-mtgox-master.zip

or

Download the module from the MtGox website

-Quick install

Create new folder called "mtgox"

Unzip --> FTP upload to /modules/mtgox/

-Easy configuration

Go to module --> MtGox Payment Gateway ---> Configure

To create an Api Key :

MtGox account -->  Security Center ---> Advanced API Keys

-No fees

No commission fees from MtGox

-MtGox rate
Not the best rate ( +8/10 % compare to Bitstamp & others). This is due to difficulties to withdraw USD/EUR on MtGox. Hope this will change soon.

-Possibility to keep payment in Bitcoin balance

Be Aware !!! To keep payments in Bitcoin you need to select no to " Automatically sell received bitcoins" from the module configuration

-Free withdraw to any Bitcoin address

Except mining fees as usual.

-Difficulties to withdraw in EUR/USD

It takes few weeks  at the moment.

-Customer Side

Customer can pay with their MtGox account or any Bitcoin address (even multiple payments from different Bitcoin address)

-Front Office

Change the text "Pay with MtGox" by "Pay with Bitcoin" using the prestashop module translation tool.

You can also change the logo by the BitCoin logo /modules/mtgox/images/logo-checkout.png

Try the module live on this store

Having not been able to find an easy way to accept Bitcoin on Prestashop 1.5, here is my contribution to the community.

Even a little Bit helps :-)

Please use your favorite search engine, Prestashop Module bitcoin.  It's been thought of  but I did not review each of the module and/or posts.

Steviacity, thanks for sharing, can you message vekia, if he tests and it works, he will put on list of safe (tested) free modules.

Thanks for sharing.

You are all very welcome.

I confirm that this module doesn't work on prestashop 1.5

I was also looking for a module without "third party" and a great Bitcoin/USD rate but couldn't find it.

As long as Gtmox doesn't take 3% on receiving money, it is fine for me.

As I am not a developer, I have a quick question about the module using Json wallet( when a generous developer will share it to the world ) :

Will it be risky to use this kind of module on a non SSL prestashop shop ?

I guess some information about wallet and Api will be stored on the website.

Hi,
I think he deleted a post because it is gone.
I had written that the module you say to me to try, do not use bitcoind (which is what would be useful).
thank you anyway for the work of SteviaCity

It has a module for prestashop that works well and I use it on my ecommerce site.

Hi ziomik,

Thanks for info about bips.me

I have been looking at their fees : it's quiet expensive compare to others third party (almost 2+€ to withdrawl in EUR)

Could not find information about transferring directly the BTC to another BTC address.

You said that you are using it on your store ( could we get a link to test it ? ), is there any commission / fees / rates to accept BTC with the prestashop module

PS: For danish citizen it seems the best and cheapest solution

Many Thanks

Hi SteviaCity,

is not a problem. This is my shop, which I'm adding products: http://www.bitcoinmarket.net and exchange EUR/BTC (according to my availability). Using the control panel bips.me I transfer bitcoins independently without tax.

I created some scripts in Linux shell and placed in crontab to interact every 10 minutes on the database of prestashop to change the exchange rate. Bye

Thanks,

I gave a try on your website and it seems to work great.

That would be a good option if you just want to keep the payment in BTC and then transfer it to and other BTC address.

On Bips.me :

-No fees on BTC In/out

-You can fix your own rate. As the market rate change a lot you need to update it with crontab (personally I don't know how to do it, I find it a bit complex)

-You can't fix your own rate. MtGox rate automatically updated.

On MtGox :

-No fees on BTC In/out

-You can't fix your own rate. MtGox rate automatically updated.

PS : In all cases, do not keep large amount of BTC with third party, but keep it safe and encrypted locally.

With Bitcoin, we never know when a website will shutdown

Very good,

I started on my vps "bitcoind" that is working well. I would like to have a plugin of payments for him in such a way as to be completely independent for payments, instead of using services of others. We hope that some developer can develop it.

PS:

The plugin Bips.me, automatically converts the rate of the products, as mtgox.

I have decided not to sell in Euros or Dollars and, therefore, I created the script, which I told you about, but it has to do with bips.me is my job.

You are right, the key to freedom is to independent from third party.

We finally finally have a tool to do it and stop to pay 3% on all income.

Some e-businesses have only a maximum of 15 % margin so 3% represents 20 % of their incomes (tax excluded).

Thanks for precision about BTC rate and conversion on Bips.me

It is a good thing to compare both MtGox and Bips.me module.

I guess the only thing different is the BTC/USD rate (which is very bad at the moment  MtGox to buy BTC, about +10%)

Thanks again for the details about Bips.me

Hi,

can I use it on prestashop 1.4 ? :)

Thanks guys for a reply.

I personally never used 1.4 so I don' know.

But you can give a try and let us know if it worked.

On the website they said it is compatible with 1.5 but it may also worked on previous versions (it is very light and simple module)

Quick update on Mtgox and Bips.me bitcoin module:

-Mtgoxworks only on ps 1.5

For Prestashop 1.4 you will need to use Bips.me with some modifications depending on which version of ps you are using.

I have been able to help valibuk so do not hesitate to PM if you have any issues with bitcoin on ps 1.4 or 1.5.

doesn't work for me. Presta 1.5.6.1

I released an alternative module for all cryptocurrencies today. Check the "Cryptocurrency" module (it's free) and it's for 1.5.x.
