moved hosting now search does not work

Hi all,

I have recently migrated 6 prestashop sites over to Go Daddy hosting. All wend fine following instructions on the forum but I have a small problem with the search facilities on the sites.

 

Of the sites migrated 2 were on v1.4 and three were V 1.3 All the sites initially did not work on the search and returned "No results found for your search" when the search was used.

 

One of the sites running on 1.4.5.1 was fixed by changing the search.php to the copy stated at http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFI-7113?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Aall-tabpanel but the other version of 1.4 simply gives a 500 error page when I change the search.php file and the versions running on 1.3.6 do the same (although I dont think tis fix is relevant to 1.3.6).

 

All sites were running fine on the last hosting and so im guessing that there must be something that I have done to cause this during the move. I know a lot of people say that the fault is with Go Daddy but with the one site working fine (albeit that it still wont run the search with friendly url's) im a little stuck now.

 

Just to clarify I have tried regenerating the index for all sites, and switched off friendly url's.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated. One example under 1.3.6 is www.cartridgeuniverse.co.uk and the 1.4 version is www.cookshopdirect.co.uk

I think a good idea would be to click on "Rebuild Index" under Preferences > Search, on Prestashop back office, as it can be seen here: http://awesomescreen....com/0131274d5b

Hi. Yes, I have already done this numerous times. However using www.cartridgeuniverse.co.uk as an example I have done again and still get "No results found for your search" as a result on all searches. Ajax is on. Interestingly in the 1.4 site which is doung the same if I activate instant search the screen goes straight to No results found for your search as soon as you start to type a search phrase.

 

Again, im sure this is something simple as all these issues with all 6 sites came about as soon as I migrated them. Thanks for your input above... any more ieas? : Many thanks : Dom

have you got something like firebug in your web browser? if so, can you check error output in javascript console ?

Im afraid im not totally sure what I am doing with firebug but I gave it a go. I opened firebug and activated script debugging. I went to the www.cartridgeuniverse.co.uk and carried out a search for "printers". There was no reaction when I clicked on search and the following response appeared in firebug.

Hi Cehashu,

Unfortunately not... however I did manage to find a more long winded solution. I manually upgraded to 1.4.8 and then using autoupgrade took the version up to 1.5.3 which was fine... a few bugs to sort out but mainly to do with the site and some mods I had used on it. After the 1.5.3 upgrade I toggled Ajax on and off and then the search worked fine... took a few times to get friendly URL's working with it too be just about managed it. So, I dont think its a fixable issue without an upgrade as 1.3 is really now so out of date that the support is very limited. All I would say about the manual upgrade is take your time... measure twice and cut once as they say and make lots of backups. Good luck : Dom
