olctw Posted March 8, 2013 Share Posted March 8, 2013 We are trying to translate prestashop 1.5.x. But the format of translation file is annoying as we couldn't translate it directly in the file. Although I could make a script to merge English strings into ours. There's still another problem that when there's a small change, like adding just a character, we must translate it again as their keys are different. If you could use gettext format, translators could translate it in many ways. There are many tools could help translators in gettext format, like poedit( http://www.poedit.net/ ). Poedit supports fuzzy feature that it could guess the translation of specified string based on translated database. It works well if there's only some small changes. I switched from 1.5.3.1 to 1.5.4.0RC and found there are many such small changes.
