Blocksearch display problem in IE

I just noticed a display issue with the blocksearch module in my header when viewed in internet explorer (ie8)

 

The search box is positioned lower than the adjacent button, making it look all wonky.

 

If found this text at the bottom of blocksearch.css:

#search_block_top .button {top: 5px;} /* hack ie 8 */

}/* */

 

 

I'm guessing it is meant to fix this problem but it doesn't. I've tried removing it but no change.

 

Others must surely have had this problem but can't find any posts relating to it.

 

Any help please?

 

 

edit: the prestashop version is 1.4.6.2 and the site is www.dura-tex.co.uk

Does no one else have this problem? I would have thought that many people would use the 1.5 default theme...?
