Looking to make customers enter password twice when registering

Hi all, currently when a customer registers, they for some reason only need to enter there password once.

 

I would like them to have to enter it twice and ensure they match - If they don't I would like an error message to appear.

Hello, this is not an option by default in PrestaShop. I am not sure of the code changes necessary to make this happen. I will move this to the correct forum, you may have better luck there.

Hey sorry, I forgot to reply to your email. Is there a specific reason why you want to do this? I generally would recommend against it.

Well currently when a customer registers, they only have to enter there password once.

 

I would like them to enter it again to verify the password for obvious reasons such as so they don't make mistakes when typing.

 

Why would you recommend against it please?

The main reason I would recommend against it is more fields turn people off in an order process. That is why a guest account is so popular, the one field, password turns people off.

 

At the same time, have you taken into account that prestashop sends you the password when you create an account?

Also, in PrestaShop 1.5 you have the option of a quick account creation. This is to retain customers who want to register but not fill out so many fields. The option is under Preferences>>Customers

Hi simpson, yes that option is not available in 1.4x. However, you can turn on guest checkout in Preferences>> Enable Guest Checkout (yes)

I've just enabled guest, and it does look that little bit easier for customers.

My clients say guest checkout is a PITA, it increases customer service emails and calls. But, it does increase sales. Are you shipping worldwide, or local? And are you charging taxes based on some kind of tax zone?

Hello, I would agree that it increases sales. Guest Checkout is used more often than not.

I'm just currently dealing in the U.K.

 

All prices include Tax.

 

 

The guest section does appear as long as creating an account really as it has things such as date of birth etc.
