sabio
Hi, We've had some major problems with duplicated content with our site due to the multilanguage support (and for this we've been penelized by Google). The main langue for our site is Swedish, but it's also been translated to Norweigan and Danish (the menues, check out - the whole infrastructure). However, not all of the product texts have been translated to these langues which means that the swedish product description is to be seen at the Swedish site, the norweigan site and the danish site (hence duplicate content errors). Recently Google has acknowledge this problem and fixing it by supporting rel="alternate" hreflang="x". You can read more about it here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=189077 However the sitemaps in Prestashop doesn't generate the sitemaps this way, would it be possible to implement that in the future? Or any fix you might recommend so the crawlers understand the pages are different (even thought the content is not)? Thanks! El Patron
One of the best solutions is using ccTLD domain names. Google tells us that using ccTLD's we are not penalized for duplicate content. They do love us. We run several ccTLD's on one gTLD (.co) using our in house developed.solution. or You can also leverage this solution using 1.5 and native multishop Edited September 28, 2012 by elpatron (see edit history)
