Cart returns to summary, no order confirmation

Hello -

Customer informs that after entering credit card info, the cart returns to the summary (step 1) instead of order confirmation. No order is created.

 

Same result when trying to pay via paypal.

 

I logged in as a customer and got the same result.

 

Have had orders in recent days, so whatever it is, it's new.

 

Any ideas?

Odd, I've received orders before and after these complaints, but it keeps happening- customers call to say that the cart returns to summary after entering CC info.

 

The most recent customer was using Firefox, don't know about the others.

 

Any thoughts?

Authorize.net shows that 2 attempts for this latest customer declined.

 

That explains why there was no order completion, but why was there no notice to the customer that the card declined?

 

 

 

ETA -

looking at earlier times this happened, I'm sure that these are instances of the card being declined.

 

So- is there a way to get a 'declined' notice instead of just a mysterious return to the cart summary?
