fernandoch
What is better for SEO, to have product combinations for colors for example or just to create a new page for a different article color?
Bill Dalton
If your product is called "hjuy78klllloo8889" and you are the only one selling it, you will be number one. Only because your page has that term and no other page has it. Even if 9 other people sell the product, you will still be in the default top ten, first page result. That isn't the case for colors, and other common words. My point is this, although there are good SEO practice's that will help your search engine rankings. Attempting to rank on common words is a wasted effort. This is because of the millions of pages that already contain those words. The only way possible to rank on common words is by obtaining inbound links ... thousands of them. Unless of course you happen to be selling "Red hjuy78klllloo8889". In this case the product combinations for colors wins because it's best for your customers and makes your site easier to use.
OSFormation
Hi, for sure the better choice is to have a page per combination to hope having a good ranking on the long tail. Actually it's not possible to have a product page per combinations with Prestashop 1.4, but with the next 1.5 release it will be possible. According to me, for user usability, it's better to use the standart mecanism of Prestashop. BTW you can make some developments to have this feature with 1.4 versions. Well I can manually create a new page for every combination, in fact it will be easier for me than to create combinations of a product. But amazon does not do that... A single product has many combinations http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B001FA1O0O/ I thought this was the best practices... But now I am lost. CrS27
As SEO experts put it, you should better create a short simple page than a long page with different products. First, it will help to rank the page for a specific keyword and secondly, the users will find it easier to use, too. As to Amazon, they can neglect some of the SEO rules as they are widely known. As to a small business, you should use every smallest opportunity to rank higher in search results.
pel024
Totally agree with @CrS27 - Much better to have product combinations on one page if you can. Better for SEO (unless you can make the pages unique enough), better for users and better for shop owners.
