upon installing this module - it installed on both left and right sides of the store.

Also, How can I make it show different feeds that depends on the language of the store? My store is a three language store. How do I make it switch languages?

can't help. I just downloaded it, and it was fine.
But I am not sure IF i did the right thing - but I uploaded the file to my rapidshare account.
Here is the link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/402813875/DDLX_newsdef.zip.html

Please let me know if you want me to remove the link. (not sure if you allow me - its your module not mine... :-) )

Update for this module. My store is in three languages, and I Needed it to show news in the corresponding languages of the store.
I had to modify newsdef.tpl
Removed this code

<IFRAME src="modules/newsdef/news.php" width=175 height=250 scrolling=no frameborder=0 > </IFRAME>

added this one:

<IFRAME src="{if $lang_iso == 'he'}modules/newsdef/news_he.php
{else}{if $lang_iso == 'ru'}modules/newsdef/news_ru.php
{else}modules/newsdef/news_en.php{/if}{/if}"
width=175 height=250 scrolling=no frameborder=0 > </IFRAME>

Then I copied news.php twice and renames all three to: news_en.php, news_ru.php, news_he.php (english, russian, hebrew)

in each of them I changed the end of line 9 of the code from:

".xml"

to

"_en.xml", "_ru.xml", "_he.xml"

(corresponding to the english, russian, and hebrew new.php file)

and renamed the xml files to:

NEWS1_en.xml, NEWS1_ru.xml, NEWS1_he.xml

Each xml file (en, ru, and he) has the news in different language.
It works for me.

Can anyone please see if what I did is optimized? I am no code writer just figured to share it with the community, as it almost works for me.

The problem I have is that when viewing any product this box does not show the scrolling news but it acts a frame to show the site itself. Please help me figure what is wrong. Nothing in the code of the module hints that it will frame the site. HELP.....

With great credit to tomerg3 who helped me figure something else (but similar) in this post

I figured it out, had to change the Iframe url from relative to absolute (in the tpl file), and it worked. Have no idea why it happened... But absolute url does the trick

Link Open Inside the block .. its not open In new windows

What have to replace Iframe to ?

I want to test this module which seems what I need, installed it OK but instead of news it displays this error message :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/sites/domain.ro/public_html/modules/newsdef/config.xml on line 1

.
Don't know why, the line 1 has the xml declaration which is allright. What could be the problem ?

I am also getting the same error on Presta 1.4.4.0 ""Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/...../public_html/modules/newsdef/config.xml on line 1"

A version issue? Anyone have a solution?

I was also having the same problem in version 1.4.0, then I edited news.php

<table border="0" width="150" height="20">

<tr>

<td width="166"><marquee id="scroller" scrollAmount=2 direction=up width=150 height=165>

<font size="2" face="Verdana"><div align="center">

<?

$txt_news = opendir("../newsdef/");

include("../newsdef/NEWS2.xml");

?>

</font></marquee></div></td>

</tr>

</table>

<table border="0" width="150" height="20">

<tr>

<td ><p align="center"><a href="javascript:scroller.start()"><br><img border="0" src="../newsdef/img/img_play.gif"></a> | <a href="javascript:scroller.stop()"><img border="0" src="../newsdef/img/img_pause.gif"></a></p></td>

</tr>

</table>

---------------------------------------------------

Please note that I am only using NEWS2.xml - so add all the news there.
