Feedback Blocklayered 1.4.5

Hi guys,

first of all: Prestashop is a great piece of software. So far I have had no problems adapting it to my needs.

BUT BUT BUT

I have to give a little "constructive" feedback about the topic "product filtering".

From a programmers point of view I have to say that adapting / extending the blocklayered module really really is a mess!!!! After spending 4 days analysing the module I gave up and even thought about starting new from scratch with a decent "class"-structure which would make it easy to adapt it to my needs... but this would take me even longer... so right now my shop will NOT have a product filter. :-/

Overall: I think it would be really important for prestashop to have a GREAT product filter which can easily be extended to the need of a shop.

This is what you guys could do much better when it comes to product filtering

1) Class-Structure: First of all the blocklayered module should be totally refactored. Right now it is more prodecural than object-oriented. Kind of spagetti code. The new refactured version should have a very clear class structure with a super-filter class which can easily be extended.

2) Feature: Keywords: The filter should have the option to have multiple search-keywords enabled like "house"+"green"

example: http://www.magentoco...t/?q=House&pl=0

3) Feature: Sort Options: There should also be Sort Filters like "Popular" "New" "Most viewed"

example: http://www.magentoco...t/?q=House&pl=0

4) It would be cool to have an "new" filter and "on-sale" filter.

By the way: Will prestashop 1.5 have a new blocklayered version?

Kind regards

Rassy

Hi vietnam,

thanks for support this post. I really wondered why no one responded to it yet as this topic is SOOO IMPORTANT.

I still have not found a solution for extending my product-filter needs and I am feeling a bit jealous when I stumble over all those other great online-shops with great product filtering....

The thing about the current prestashop blocklayered version is that it "looks cool" BUT it is very hard to extend and yeah: from a programmers point of view it has a weak class structure which makes it hard to extend...

What do you other guys think about this? Do you know if V 1.5 will have a new product-filter?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have another problem with blocklayered

In this http://www.feronerie-mobilier.com/86-glisiera-standard category i have a filter.... and lets say i click to have only hafele , once i click there i will only see the froducts from "hafele" http://www.feronerie-mobilier.com/86-glisiera-standard#/productor-hafele

But if i copy and paste this link : http://www.feronerie-mobilier.com/86-glisiera-standard#/productor-hafele , it will load all the produts, not only the "hafele" products

Users should be able to send a link of a particular category, similar to http://www.feronerie-mobilier.com/cautare-mobila?orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=albastru&submit_search=

I reported this as bug PSCFI-4143
