Primero que todo Gracias! por el Modulo Buen Trabajo

Ya lo pude implemetar en la version 1.5 le hice unas pequeñas modificaciones al PHP en la función:

function hookHome($params)
{
 global $smarty, $cookie, $link;

 $id_customer = (int)$params['cookie']->id_customer;
 $id_group = $id_customer ? Customer::getDefaultGroupId($id_customer) : _PS_DEFAULT_CUSTOMER_GROUP_;
 $id_lang = (int)$params['cookie']->id_lang;
 $result = Db::getInstance(_PS_USE_SQL_SLAVE_)->ExecuteS('
 SELECT c.*, cl.*
 FROM `'._DB_PREFIX_.'category` c
 LEFT JOIN `'._DB_PREFIX_.'category_lang` cl ON (c.`id_category` = cl.`id_category` AND `id_lang` = '.$id_lang.')
 LEFT JOIN `'._DB_PREFIX_.'category_group` cg ON (cg.`id_category` = c.`id_category`)
 WHERE level_depth > 1 And level_depth < 3
 AND c.`active` = 1
 AND cg.`id_group` = '.$id_group.'
 ORDER BY `level_depth` ASC, c.`position` ASC');
 $category = new Category(1);
 $nb = intval(Configuration::get('HOME_categories_NBR'));

global $link;
	 $this->context->smarty->assign(array(
		'categories' => $result, Category::getRootCategories(intval($params['cookie']->id_lang), true),
  'link' => $link

	));
 $this->context->smarty->assign(array(
  'category' => $category,
  'lang' => Language::getIsoById(intval($params['cookie']->id_lang)),
 ));
 return $this->display(__FILE__, 'homecategories.tpl');
}

De nuevo Gracias

I hope reviews

I have freshly installed of PS 1.5.2, but when I try to install the module for 1.5 I receive the message 'bad configuration file'.

Do i have to implement this code? If so, where?

Thanks in advance.

I Downloaded your Version and uploaded it under modules successfully (Prestashop 1.5.2.0). Unfortunately it doesn't show anywhere under modules. I can only see the folder on the server via ftp. Somebody got an idea why and how I can access the module?

Hi, that module is included inside that folder, the structure is this:

Zc8UD.png

You should extract "homecategories" and create new .zip and include inside this folder, upload and now Prestashop recognize the module.

Sorry for my little english! ;)

Dear Friend,

Thanks for nice module. I like to know is that possible to display particular category products on homepage means other than homefeatured module?

Suppose I have 3 category's.

Dual Sim Mobile

Single Sim Mobile

Tri Sim Mobile

So I wish to show products inside these category on hompage.

Dual Sim Mobile

Product | Product | Product

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Single Sim Mobile

Product | Product | Product

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tri Sim Mobile

Product | Product | Product

---------------------------------------------------------

Please suggest.

Thanks

Vilas

I have updated this module so that you dont need to alter any core modules and have also added CCC compatibility for prestashop v1.4.

There is now a css file that contains all the formatting for the module.

Images are currently set to display at 100px x 100px, but that is easily changeable by altering the css at lines 3,4 + 6.

Also if any wants to provide translations, send them to me or post them here and i will update the module.

Module updated v1.2 - Uploadable through the modules import on back-office. Category titles added. Css included in the module folder and NOT in themes/css/module/homecategories folder. Positioning improved (thanks to @itsallgood )

Module updated v.1.3 - Compatible with Prestashop v1.5.*

Note: You will need to uninstall the old module first and then upload the new module and reinstall it to update the module on your server.

Everything works fine, I have 1.4.4.0

With this theme, I was able to withdraw from the sub categories. But I had a problem.

How do I hide the ID number of categories, sub-categories and there should stay?

Please help!

I've applied solution indicated by @freshest here and it works.

But now, I wonder:

1. is there any way to indicate a "not available image" in case it doesn't exist one, in order to avoid broken images?

2. could I to indicate a specific number of categories to show? (I'd like to do with only three due to my design)

3. how do you control the order of categories in this list? (suppose I want to sort by alphabetical order or other)

BTW, many thanks for this module, I love it!

for images in Prestashop version: 1.5.2.0 I've changed homecategories.tpl to :

<!-- MODULE Home categories -->
<div class="home_categories">
   <h2>{l s='Categories' mod='homecategories'}</h2>
   {if isset($categories) AND $categories}
	    <ul>
	    {foreach from=$categories item=category name=homeCategories}
		    {assign var='categoryLink' value=$link->getcategoryLink($category.id_category, $category.link_rewrite)}
		    <li class="ajax_block_category {if $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.first}first_item{elseif $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.last}last_item{else}item{/if}">
		    <div><a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend}" class="category_image"><img src="{$img_cat_dir}{$category.id_category}-large_default.jpg" alt="{$category.name}" title="{$category.name}" class="categoryImage" width="{$categorySize.width}" height="{$categorySize.height}" /></a></div>
		    <a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend}">{$category.name|truncate:35}</a>
		    </li>
	    {/foreach}
	    </ul>
   {else}
    <p>{l s='No categories' mod='homecategories'}</p>
 {/if}
   <div class="cr"></div>
</div>
<!-- /MODULE Home categories -->

and now I see pics of categories

That is not a problem due to columns, because no there are columns, at least in HTML code. Each category is a <li> element floating to left of previous one. I mean, no there is a table to say there are columns or rows. In any case, you would correct from CSS file.

One quick solution I think is to give a fixed heigh as attribute to each <li> tag, adding to homecategories.css:

div.home_categories li {

float: left;

margin: 5px;

width: 100px;

height: 125px;

}

2mfwsr7.jpg

A better solution, I recommend to use Masonry plugin that let a dinamic layout for those cases.

I hope this serves

I just upgraded to version 1.5.2 and installed the version of this module for version 1.5.2. At first I got just a single column of pics. so I tried the fixes found here. Nothing worked, so I re-installed the new Prestashop 1.5 Theme from scratch. Now I can not get any pictures to show. Can anyone advise me on this?

Hi, we have setup all of the category images and this plugin works fine, although we have multishop enabled and this plugin shows all of the categories available on any site including the ones that are hidden. We have multiple prices and certain items to sell to other companies, therefore we need to fix this problem!

If there is no fix for this Module please could you list any that have this functionality.

Thanks for any help,

In production, the categories are displayed twin!??

You can see here

I do not understand. Have you ever had this problem?

Thank you for your help,

I have the same problem when my categories don't have assigned images. I get a broken image if the categorie doesn't have one. Did you try assign images to every categories? Try enable/disable friendly URLs. also check your HTML code where and how this plugin tries load the images.

My webpage is www.cecustomdesign.com.

It shows the place holder for 'homepage catageory'. I am almost sure it is a conflict with the theme, or the image process. All my catagories have images.

I am not sure what text you want from the module, it is the version for 1.5.2 unedited.

I have had other issues / doubts with this module but not the problem you mention.

Does it happen the same when you choose "default" theme?

I would try reinstall this module again or to try changing "home" options in each categorie.

Good luck

2/shop 2: "thgr00027" theme

I reinstall the module : no more chance.

What did you mean by : try changing "home" options in each categorie. In hook ?

You can do it through editing .css rules and html tags in .tpl file.

gfdesign.......I had this module working under v1.4.9, but I remember I had to solve a conflict between the theme CSS and the module CSS. Of course now I don't remember what it was. But to follow your last post....yeas all categories are set to home. If I have downloaded the version for 1.5.2, and am using 1.5.2, is there any changes that I am supposed to make to any of the files?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me with this.

I installed this module on 1.5.2 which displays the categories on frontpage.

The module works great after tweeking the image path.

When I change my language the categories tile isn't translated. Could somebody help me to have this working in multilingual webshop?

Now it states this in the .tpl file:

<h4>{l s='Categories' mod='homecategories'}</h4>

thanks in advance!

kind regards

Bart

@bart81 Which language did you enabled, this module have only UK/FR/DE, youy have to create yours.

@FuckThemWhenTheyBleed You are not in the good topic this module is here

@elmaistro if you are using then you have to to create a image called "medium" with a width and a height of 80*80px available for categories and products and refresh your product/categories images.

The module is not ready for multi-store.

If you have more question about Homecategoriesplus here is the right place

Hello guys!

This can help a lot of you if you are keen on reading, not just posting questions which were posted before again and again.

I got lost in the topic (in finding the most updated version of the John's module), so I downloaded the one he labeled homecategories for v1.5.zip in his first post in this topic.
To be honest it did not fit my theme good. I am using the Default theme for Prestashop 1.5.3 and underneath John's module I have the standard module Featured Products. They did not quite match in the way they look. So I took (a lot of!) my time and modified John's module a bit in order to fit the standard theme...and probably any other.

How my homecategories.css looks like:

#home_categories li {
margin-right:10px;
padding:10px 0;
width:126px;
height:140px
}
#home_categories li.last_item_of_line {margin-right:0;}
#home_categories .s_title_block, #home_categories h5 {
padding-top:5px;
height:30px;
font-size:12px;
color:#222;
padding-bottom: 0;
font-weight:bold;
}
#home_categories .product_image {
display:block;
position:relative;
overflow:hidden
}
#home_categories .product_image span.new {
display: block;
position: absolute;
top: 15px;
right:-30px;
padding: 1px 4px;
width: 101px;
font-size:10px;
color: #fff;
text-align: center;
text-transform: uppercase;
-moz-transform: rotate(45deg);
-webkit-transform: rotate(45deg);
-o-transform:rotate(45deg);
/*-ms-transform: rotate(45deg);*/
background-color: #990000;
transform: rotate(45deg); /* Newer browsers */
filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(sizingMethod='auto expand', M11=0.7071067811865476, M12=-0.7071067811865475, M21=0.7071067811865475, M22=0.7071067811865476); /* IE6,IE7 */
-ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Matrix(SizingMethod='auto expand', M11=0.7071067811865476, M12=-0.7071067811865475, M21=0.7071067811865475, M22=0.7071067811865476)"; /* IE8 */
}
.ie9 #home_categories .product_image span.new{top:-18px;right:-38px}
.ie8 #home_categories .product_image span.new{top:-21px;right:-38px}
.lt-ie6 #home_categories .product_image span.new {top:-30px;right:-25px}
#home_categories .product_desc {height:45px;}
#home_categories .product_desc,
#home_categories .product_desc a {
color:#666
}

How my homecategories.tpl looks like:

<!-- MODULE Home categories -->
<div id="home_categories" class="block products_block clearfix">
<h4 class="title_block">{l s='Shop Categories' mod='homecategories'}</h4>
{if isset($categories) AND $categories}
{assign var='liHeight' value=250}
{assign var='nbItemsPerLine' value=4}
{assign var='nbLi' value=$products|@count}
{math equation="nbLi/nbItemsPerLine" nbLi=$nbLi nbItemsPerLine=$nbItemsPerLine assign=nbLines}
{math equation="nbLines*liHeight" nbLines=$nbLines|ceil liHeight=$liHeight assign=ulHeight}
<ul>
{foreach from=$categories item=category name=homeCategories}
{assign var='categoryLink' value=$link->getcategoryLink($category.id_category, $category.link_rewrite)}
<li class="ajax_block_category {if $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.first}first_item{elseif $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.last}last_item{else}item{/if} {if $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.iteration%$nbItemsPerLine == 0}last_item_of_line{elseif $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.iteration%$nbItemsPerLine == 1} {/if} {if $smarty.foreach.homeCategories.iteration > ($smarty.foreach.homeCategories.total - $totModulo)}last_line{/if}">
<a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend|escape:html:'UTF-8'}" class="category_image"><img src="{$img_cat_dir}{$category.id_category}_home_mod.jpg" alt="{$category.name|escape:html:'UTF-8'}" title="{$category.name}" id="categoryImage"></a>
<h5 class="s_title_block"><a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend|truncate:50:'...'|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}">{$category.name|truncate:35:'...'|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}</a></h5>
</li>
{/foreach}
</ul>
{else}
<p>{l s='No categories' mod='homecategories'}</p>
{/if}
</div>
<!-- /MODULE Home categories -->

Just open those files (after you make a copy of them, in case it doesn't work well) and paste the above code in place of the existing one. The files you can find in [your shop root directory]\modules\homecategories. You can open them with Notepad but I strongly suggest you get and use this program. It is awesome to my humble opinion for editing .css and .tpl files. It searches for specific text string inside files, it can undo your edits even after you click Save...
I am not good in coding, so please excuse my mistakes. Most of it is copied from the standard Featured Products module.

Ah, in addition to the above, you need to create a new image for every category that you have. The category images you can find in [your shop root directory]\img\c. Take the biggest one, say, [category number]-large_default.jpg and resize it down to 124x124 pixels. Then save it as [category number]_home_mod.jpg in the same directory where you found the big category image. Do this for all the categories you have.

If you wanna change the order the categories appear, see this: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/121735-free-module-homepage-categories-module/?view=findpost&p=1350534. If you want them to be descending order, just change ASC to DESC. There are couple of more posts about ordering the categories starting from page 9 ahead - check them put if this here is not your solution.

That's it. If you want subcategories or other fancy stuff - do it yourself!

Peace! :)

Please hit LIKE if it helped you :-)

Hi. I have a new problem kinda related to this topic...

all edits I've made to my store are undone!!! Everything was fine last night. This morning I was back to the ipods and everything! I use the default theme. The changes have been sticking for days. But now that I'm ready to promote my page and accept orders everything has changed. The only thing I've done between last night and ten minutes ago is install the Connect to USPS module and configure it. Now everything is out of whack.

I'm very new to Prestashop but working hard and learning. PLEASE help!!

Yup they use a deprecated function. But it won't trouble the module yet.

For whom who don't know how hide the warning :

in your config/defines.inc.php file

set _PS_MODE_DEV_ to false.

define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', false);

Until they fixed it ;)

There is not a module that will do those buttons currently, however I cheated by just using HTML, Photoshop and the WContentMaker module I found on here to do this: see: www.dieselsurplusstore.com main page. See attached image and the module I used. Just transplant the module to the homepage content and move in the positions tab under modules.

The html is just the images side by side created equally in photoshop and saved as .png's

Each image just links to the catgory URL.. just click on the categories bar and copy the URL from that categories page to get each URL. Simple and gives you that control your looking for. I would keep the images very small or use a .png image compressor to keep the page loading time fast.

Good luck.

The text is showing but the images are not. I hv Presta 1.4.5.1 - what is the reason?

I have the same problem. I've installed this module in my PS 1.5.2 it works fine but images don't appear. I don't know what I do wrong :(

Any idea?

find in homecategories.tpl

<div><a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend}" class="category_image"><img src="{$img_cat_dir}{$category.id_category}-large.jpg" alt="{$category.name}" title="{$category.name}" class="categoryImage" width="{$categorySize.width}" height="{$categorySize.height}" /></a></div>

and replace with

<div><a href="{$categoryLink}" title="{$category.legend}" class="category_image"><img src="{$img_cat_dir}{$category.id_category}-large_default.jpg" alt="{$category.name}" title="{$category.name}" class="categoryImage" width="{$categorySize.width}" height="{$categorySize.height}" /></a></div>

For version 1.5.4.1 and in order to display correctly the pictures of each category, you should edit the homacatogories.tpl file (prestashop/modules/homecategories/homacatogories.tpl) and change the <img src="..."> tag into:

<img src="{$img_cat_dir}{$category.id_category}-large_default.jpg" alt="{$category.name}" title="{$category.name}" class="categoryImage" width="{$categorySize.width}" height="{$categorySize.height}" />

to clear the error :: addCSS

in homefeatured.php search

 Tools::addCSS(($this->_path).'homecategories.css', 'all');
}

change to:

 $this->context->controller->addCSS($this->_path.'homecategories.css');
}

Greetings, first excellent module good sir, I have been working with it to adjust it to my needs, just wondering is there a way to change the width of the category block to match the width of the featured products block to make everything look uniform? Thanks for your help.

Hi guys, I want to use this module, but the images of categories is very small and unsuitable for almost all shops. Could you tell me how I can increase the size of the images without harm to template. I changed width and hight in css to 150px - and images covered each other.

Also I would like to know does there is any way to control numbers of items per row in this module. If no, may be developers will add this function (SIZE+NUMBERS OF ITEMS) in the new version.

Why should I change in this file (homecategories.php) to arrange alphabetically??

AND cg.`id_group` = '.$id_group.'
 ORDER BY `name` DESC, c.`position` DESC');
 $category = new Category(1);

line 52-5424vjf5x.jpg

ascending not descending

if code instead

AND cg.`id_group` = '.$id_group.'
 ORDER BY `name` ASC, c.`position` ASC');
 $category = new Category(1);

i'm having this error

it's because you have "two lines" in the product name.

9tQlnWG.png

In this case you have to define the "height" of the block with product name.

tks

it's working now
