SEF urls getting category injected into them on other pages...

I have flooring categories and after visiting the category "carpet" my SEF urls get re-written with the category "carpet" in them. For example, every url works fine and then after I visit the category my url for home will then be "http:///en/carpet/index.php". So I guess this is a problem with the .htaccess re-writes? I just don't understand why this is happening...

The reason I don't think it is the .htaccess is because when I hover over links on the website in my menu they have the form with the category injected in it, and I think these links are generated off of a function in the .tpl files right? So something strange is happening...

After trying to reproduce it only happens when I look at the products in the category. After I choose a product and view it, I hover over links in my menu and notice they all have the category injected into them.
