Upgrade to 1.4 causes Apache2 to consume all system memory

Recommended Posts

Hi All, recently we have upgraded from 1.3 to 1.4, all went fine, we had to fix some permission issues and we continued adding products.

Then while playing with modules something happened, now we load the frontend the webserver freezes the server, apache2 starts to create a lot of threads and we go out of RAM quickly.

We have tried to disable all the modules, but the problem is still there.

After doing some tests y other servers withe the same files / database we cannot find the problem.

The problem still happens with apache2 configured with Prefork module with very low resources, so it's very strange that Apache still eat all the system Memory.

We have tested that system locally as well in a MAMP environment with the same results.

Does someone have any clue about what can cause this?

Thanks!

Can I ask what theme you are using and does the problem occur regardless of the theme?
I'm also experiencing similar problems where the site loads the server to almost 100%.

We've tried changing the theme to see if the problem still exists, and as it turns out it is the theme's code that is causing the extreme load.
