Prestashop 1.6.1.24 : migration from MySql 5.7 to MySql 8

the site is hosted on siteground.

in a few days mysql will be upadated from MySql 5.7  to MySql 8

to check the situation, we set an hosting with MySql 8

we are installing on it Prestashop 1.6.1.24

 

During the installation , we got the error

"Not connected to database server. Verify user, password and server (DbPDO)"

 

anyone can help?

Verify database login details in file. 1.6.1.24 should work on MySql 8.

If hosting also forcing you to change PHP. Better find another one either consider upgrading.

Change your hoster, there are many decent hosting in that market, why siteground? 
Mate of mine had hosting there, they did not give out ftp details.

now it works. it was matter of dynamic cache

 

regarding php. the server forced to version 7.4.33

a few months ago, and everything went fine.

 

So prestashop 1.6.1.24 works on PHP 7.4.33 and Mysql 8

Just a matter of luck, because, no, PrestaShop 1.6.1.24 is not PHP 7.4 compatible.

i think the compatibilty chart tells  if the software has been tested or not

Anyway, i don't want to give  any wrong information to other developers.

That's just it, we've tested it and there are problems, otherwise we wouldn't have taken the time to develop new versions to make it compatible, like this one or this one or this one.
