Customization of Prestashop for a greeting card website

Dear Prestashop Team and Developers

We're an Indian Greeting card company, started in year 2007 with an innovative concept of sharing one's personal feeling and emotions through physical cards, allowing him/her to personalize his message, look and feel of card.

Initially we've hard-coded the system in ASP.net but now seeing the huge number of applause around our concept, we have thought of migrating to PHP - for its due benefits. With this objective in mind we ran a quick search and found two prominent shopping cart names: Magento and Prestashop, both open source and claiming to have abundant features.

We want to know from developers a genuine advice whether it would be feasible for us to go live with Prestashop shopping cart to build our system of greeting cards portal or to migrate it on Magento.

Secondly, we want a custom module, in our shopping cart, that is tightly integrated with the core. The module would allow a user to completely customize the design of card, in terms of messaging(even language), look n feel through his/her own pictures etc. Can this kind of module be developed in Prestashop? if yes then developers do let us know how much you would approximately quote for such work and how soon can you deploy such solution?

If anyone of you are interested in submitting a proposal for custom development of modules in lieu with our requirements, please forward your proposal on [email protected]

For any help or clarification, do let us know at your earliest.

Thanks, looking forward

Hello,

I've seen a Prestashop customization capable doing this. A special Flash plugin together with customized templates are required, see http://www.configurateurvisuel.fr/
In Prestashop v1.4 there is REST e-shop API available which brings new possibilities. But again, a templates customization and some data handling is also required.
But there are out-of the box so called web to print alternatives like http://www.lead-print.com/ or http://www.printboy.de/ - hosted solutions that can be customized to your needs.

Regards,
Jan
