[Build] Do you speak PrestaShop? – October 2022 edition

Recommended Posts

Contributing to PrestaShop is not only about the code, it is also about taking part in the PrestaShop translation project! This report will tell you how the translations of the software evolved in October!

Project news

PrestaShop 8 is now available to the world 🎉

PrestaShop 8 is here! While it’s been translated into multiple languages already (thank you all for your contributions!), new translation strings are added regularly, so keep an eye out.

Of course, other languages are still available for translation, and you are more than welcome to help contribute to the different language projects!

Proofreaders needed

Your project needs you! Are you able to proofread for the Spanish (Argentina), Galician or Flemish projects? If so your help is needed: the projects are currently almost fully translated, but not approved. Reach me on either Crowdin or Slack, I’d be more than happy to guide you. 🙌

Intersted in proofreading for any other language? Let me know! Your help is precious, and proofreaders are always welcome. 👏

A little teaser

A Translation Guide for the Crowdin translation project members, (aka you, contributors!) is on his way. This should make translation easier for everyone, and includes useful resources and tips!

If there is any topic you’d like to be explained in this guide, make your suggestion in the Slack translation channel. ✍️

💕 Many thanks to newcomers

Many people subscribe to the project(s) of their choice each month, but not so many start translating straight away. For that reason, we would like to thank thb5309 who rushed into the efforts immediately!

A few stats

  • 21 members joined the project this month.
  • 35 members were active on the project.
  • A total of 17,855 words have been translated and 16,067 validated.
  • All this in 28 different languages.

Thank you very much for your involvement!

Complete translations

Fully available languages

At the end of October, PrestaShop 8 was fully available (= 100% translated and validated) in 12 languages. That’s great! Thank you for your involvement. :tada:

Catalan Chinese (CN) Czech Dutch
French Italian Spanish (ES) Estonian

Thank you all for your contribution! :muscle:

Almost there!

Korean, Romanian, and Polish are almost fully available. There is only 1% of strings to proofread! There isn’t much work left, so if you wish to help proofread what has been translated, please send an email to [email protected] or message me (Léa Delin) on Slack. Your help is needed!

Languages with the best evolution

The following languages had the best progress in October thanks to the translation community:

  • French (+8% to reach 100% translated and validated)
  • Romanian (+6% to reach 100% translated and 95% validated)
  • Czech (+4% to reach 100% translated and validated)

A huge thank you to all the contributors!

Of course, this is highlighting the languages that made some progress with new translations; but it does not mean that the languages that are not mentioned here are not active. Indeed, some editing and rewriting may be going on, but the percentage of translation would not be modified (since the work happens on strings that are already translated). So let’s not forget about the work of other contributors! Thanks to you too!

Let’s keep in touch!

If you have not joined us on Crowdin yet, it is never too late!

You can also join the #translation channel of the PrestaShop Open Source Slack. On this channel, I share information about the translation project. You will also be informed about the publication of the Crowdin monthly report. Of course, you will also be able to ask questions, suggest ideas, or get in touch with other translators.
