Is there new feature in latest release? Are there fixes to latest release you need? If you cannot answer yes to either there is no point in upgrading and putting your shop in risk. If you decide that an upgrade will give you new feature or fix an existing issue the most important next step is to do full backup of your PretaShop files and database. Learn how to back up your shop here. It is also highly recommended that you learn to create a staging copy (test copy) of your production shop. Here you can validate the upgrade process to know what upgrading your production shop results will be. Do not under any circumstances upgrade just because admin says new version available.
