customer ID / reference number on invoice

We have many B2B customer that send us a purchase order. We need to add the customers order number to our invoice. Is there a way to fix this in PS1.7.7?  In our previous shop ( PS1.4 we (mis)used the Identification fied, but its not available in PS 1.7.7
