On behalf of a customer from the automotive business in Germany I administrate Prestashop 1.6.1.10 with approx. 4000 articles in 6 languages, currently over 2500 registered customers.
The shop was developed 5 years ago using PHP 5.6 and has been gradually adapted to PHP 7.4 with the help of the Presta community.
PHP will jump to version 8 in November and a first test has shown that PS 1.6.1.10 will not run under this version. Since the Prestashop versions 1.7.x still also do not run under PHP 8, I am looking for a programmer who is able to adapt PS 1.6.1.10 to the requirements of PHP 8 and also implement future PHP updates.

Basic information:

  • PS 1.6.1.10
  • adapted to PHP 7.4
  • Default template
  • No third-party modules
  • no overrides
  • no warehouse management
  • no delivery note creation
  • no invoicing
  • about 4000 items
  • about 2500 registered customers
  • 6 languages
  • additionally: PDF upload in BO in the customer notifications and PDF view/download in front office by customer account/orders
  • no statistics (does not work under PHP 7.4)
  • no variant generator (does not work under PHP 7.4)

why would you not just upgrade your PS to run in supported PS version?

it's seems rather silly to modify old code to meet current php....and dangerous as some code may be hackable due to age but at same time not need to be modified for later php.

if your hosting is 'forcing' your php upgrades, get new hosting where you control the php level

According posts in the forum, there are still problems with PHP 8 and the supported PS versions.
Switching to a current PS version only makes sense if the update from PS 1.6 to PS 1.7.x also works. Missing article or customer data are not acceptable, not even a change of the provider.
Anyway, the question arises to what extent PS 1.7.x is still up to date, since there is information that PS 8 (compatible with PHP 8 and annual PHP updates) is already being worked on. Switching to PS 1.7 doesn't make sense if you can switch to PS 8 straight away. Only the point in time is still uncertain, but the date when PHP 7.4 will be switched off is fix.
