Godaddy and 1.7.7

I have a question regarding hosting of Prestashop 1.7.7 on Godaddy.

Yesterday I tried to update to 1.7.7 and was getting an error that says MYSQL needs to be 5.7 or better. I called Godaddy who said that I would need a VPS server instead of the dedicated business hosting plan I am on now to the tune of $120.00 a month! They also said they have never heard of anyone needing more than 5.6 for mysql.   Below is what I have with them. Has anyone gotten Godaddy to work at all with 1.7.7? If so how? Do I need to find a different hosting provider? If so who do most of you recommend? I have been with them for over 20 years and never experienced this.

Hello, We sugest you to use other hosting. Godday has many limitation. You can use siteground, a2hosting, knownhost. They are fine. If you use vps you can install or update according to your need. You can told godaddy support with this link https://www.javatpoint.com/mysql-versions. that mysql version  is old in your hosting which need to update for latest version.

Thank you
