1.7.7 update and keeping translations

I have a shop on 1.7.6.9 with many custom translations in the core, modules, mails, etc. How can I make sure to keep all of these when upgrading to 1.7.7.0? It would be bothersome to recreate all translations...

1) create a test copy of your shop, put in subdomain or spare domain name on your hosting.

2) upgrade your test system

then you will know what if any impact an upgrade will pose to your existing shop.

if one does not have a compelling reason, a new feature, big bug fix, they should not upgrade.....but if one does an upgrade, see 1 and 2 above else you can lose all that hard work.
