tomerg3
Many hosting companies allow you to create a new subdomain, and assign different PHP version to it. It's best to NEVER try to upgrade a live site, but instead to create a copy of the live site, and upgrade that (or install PS 1.7, and use a module to migrate the data from the PS 1.6).
PrestaCl
I think the same thing that Tomerg3. For example recently i had to do a upgrade using the 1 click upgrade module but from that day my shop is full of bug. Thinks twice before do it.
musicmaster
- the best way is to go in steps. First upgrade to a low PS 1.7 version. Then upgrade the PHP version. Then upgrade to the most recent PS version. - don't forget that for an upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7 you will need to replace your theme and almost all your modules. And when you want to run 1.7.6.7 they should be compatible with that version. - after you change the PHP version you need to clean the cache.
