Starting a portfolio Can I add multiple sites on one server?

I believe I read correctly that I am able to download prestashop then do my technical magic and upload multiple shops or sites onto one server that is capable of hosting (and fast). 
I'm changing career from ux/ui to front end (or just an extension of) and wanted to download prestashop and then get like 5 domains separately and then upload each prestashop onto different slots on my server who allows this. So each domain will be separate and speed will be ok since host will be able too.  This way, i don't have to get 5 different webhosts and wondering if this is possible and if anyone else done this.
