Upgrade shop 1.6 to 1.7 by creating a new shop in a subfile

Hello,

I want to upgrade my 1.6.1.6 shop to the 1.7.4.2 version.

So I created a new shop 1.7.4.2 in a subfile of the existing shop (1.6.1.6). 

Then I used a module to migrate the datas from the old to the new shop.

Now I want to switch both shops, but this is my question :

How to do that, because access paths are different and I can't find where to change them.

Is there someone who can help me ?

If you are sure that you new shop, the one in subfolder, works correctly what you need to do is:

1. In your new shop's admin Advanced Preferences->Traffic & SEO change your Shop Domain/SSL Domain to your main domain e.g. example.com, set the Base URI to "/" (backslash without quotes).

2. Backup your old shop in the domain root (files and database) for the case something goes wrong and you need to restore it.

3. Delete the old shops files, all of them except the subfolder where the new shop is.

4. Copy the new shop files from the subfolder to the domain root (probably one level up) where the old shop files were.

5. Test the new shop and if all OK remove the subfolder or archive it somewhere else so you won't have duplicate content.

it's best to do in subdomain so file structure the same and .htaccess is read...
