Afbeeldingen veranderen van PNG naar JPG

Ik ben pas bezig met Presta Shop.
Over het algemeen lukt het me aardig maar ik loop tegen een probleem aan.
Afbeeldingen die ik upload bijvoorbeeld bij een product (die ik upload in PNG) transparant dus.
Zijn na het uploaden en laten zien niet meer transparant en blijken veranderd te zijn naar JPG.

Hoe kan ik dit tegen gaan bij zowel de banner op de site edit boxes, categorieën etc?

No, you can’t. All image URLs are hardcoded as .jpg so that URL rewriting can work. Although you can upload a GIF or PNG, it will be converted to a JPG when PrestaShop creates the thumbnails.


That’s right. If you upload a PNG file through the Back Office, there is no way to stop it being converted to a JPG file. PrestaShop does this to keep the file sizes small and so all images have a predictable file extension that can be used in friendly URLs.

In some cases, like with the shop’s logo, it is possible to upload a PNG file using FTP so that it doesn’t get converted, then edit header.tpl to change the file extension. Doing the same for product images would be much more difficult.
