How to require new address field from existing users?

We're using Prestashop 1.7.3.3. We're required to ask for a new piece of information from our customers, so we created a new, mandatory address field. For new customers, that's fine. Existing customers with stored addresses, however, will be able to go through the checkout without being asked to updated their information, so we're not getting this new information which is bad. Ideally, the system would recognize the fact that the user needs to update his address and send him there. I could not find a solution, short of programming it myself. Is there a way to achieve what we need?

In case the silence so far is based on there probably not being an straight forward solution - could someone with experience tell me that? Knowing that it's *probably* a custom job is also helpful.
